I used to write poetry a lot. I even had a couple of poems published. I never did WONDERFUL GREAT INSPIRATIONAL stuff like some great authors have, but I thought for an amatuer, I was pretty good. My question is, does anyone else write? What are your inspirations? Ever since I had children, I can't write anymore. It's like they sucked the poetry brain cells from my head. LOL I always found writing to be such a healing and solemn experience and I wish I could get it back...any ideas? Anybody have this sort of writer's block???

I write poetry. Nature, the Seasons, the Moon, Life, Love and Friendships all inspire me.
Please take a look at my work, on www.freewebs.com/darkwing3. You may get some inspiration from there. You will pass the block at some time. Just keep reading and thinking about the world around you. I even wrote a poem about last night's Lunar Eclipse, called Blood Moon. Things just seem to sort of come into your mind that you want to write down and remember. You could also write about the wind, the clouds, angels, whatever takes your fancy. Get a subject in mind, think about what it means to you, write down your thoughts and make it rhyme. You can be quite creative.
I hope I've given you some good suggestions. Brightest Blessings my friend and whatever you do, keep on writing.

Yes, I remember waking up in the middle of the night many many times with something in my head and I would get up and write all night long. Now, it just doesn't come to me anymore. I am going to start again. My mom is bringing me some of my poems in a little while. See, I wrote a lot in the 90s when I was with my ex. I had several notebooks full of poetry..some good and some bad...some finished and some not. My ex burned them during a fight once (he was mean). Luckily, I had sent a few to my parents and she has them still. I am hoping looking at them will give me some inspiration. Thank you for the pick me up. :)

I wish that I had writers block! All my poetry (and song lyrics) lately revolve around the SAME guy. I know some people wish to have a muse, but honestly, having a muse has just become a pain. If I had the choice, I would take writers block over unrequited love any day.

I used to write poetry, too. I have a notebook full. Love inspired most of the writings. I developed a writer's block for poetry. Some of the block was lifted, when I took a college composition class. My final grade for the class was a 98%, and I loved it. Soon I will be taking compostition II and am really looking forward to it!
