It's irritating really. They go in front of our house on the wee hours of the night and meow out loud. It's useless to chase them for after a while, they are back meowing again. I just coil myself and place pillows on my ears.

Sometimes my cats do meowing very loud at midnight. I shout at them and they stop for a while. I'm so much disturbed and could no longer sleep till morning. They do that not every night anyway so I just let them and close my ears. I can't drive them away.

We have feral cats in our neighborhood. I the summertime it gets crazy noisy in the night. There are times I when I want to jump out of bed and turn a hose on them, but I would have to run outside to do this. I find it better to put the pillow over my head.

LOL! This usually happens when the female cat is in heat and she calls for a mate. Or worse if they are both there and answering each other with loud meows. And they usually do this in the middle of the night, a real disturbance to the neighborhood.
