Yesterday me and my wife were grocery shopping and when we were done I was trying to back out of my parking spot, there was this car just sitting there waitng at least 5 minutes for a spot and blocking me in my spot. To me it seems stupid( or at least really lazy) to sit and wait for a spot thats 3 or 4 spots closer to the door than where theres a bunch open spots. I mean gee, are people that afraid of a little exercize nowadays. Okay, thats it for my rant, sorry, just venting

I think this is hilarious. You want to hear another funny? I was loading my car with groceries when a car pulled into the space in front of me. They sat there for 5 minutes without getting out of the car. They just stared at me. Well, I took my time unloading the groceries. When I got into the car, I took even longer. The people still sat in their car and stared at me. I backed out of the space and as I did, they pulled forward into the space I exited. Weirdos.
The only time I don't like to park further away from the store doors is when it is pouring outside. I do always bring an umbrella, but it isn't fun to run through the pouring rain, dodging puddles and getting soaked. But, I do it. There are other people out there that can't walk as fast as I can.

It used to bother me at one time in my life, when I was an able-bodied person and couldn't understand why people were so lazy. Then too, at one point I began to hover waiting for a closer space, but never blocking anybody from getting out though because I paid attention. I did that because I could not walk so much, and I did it right up until the Dr gave me a handicap parking placqard to hang in the window of my car. If you could look at it from a different point of view for a minute, you'd see that not everybody is lazy. I look like an able-bodied person who should be able to hike into the store, but for me, you cannot see the problems in my legs as they are not visible without an x-ray. When somebody does this, they may be saving their energy because they have physical problems that are not apparent to you. Please give them the benefit of the doubt and not assume they're lazy or rude...maybe they don't have a choice in it (I know I didn't:-)

Thank you, I have MS, and am not able to walk very far. It takes every ounce of energy some days for me to even walk. I do the best I can. I can't stand it when I see someone looking at me, without first thinking it through before judging to the conlusion, that I am disgusting for parking in a handicap, when I look "so able". You have to be careful before judging because they just may find themselves one day in the same situation.

On the surface I agree with you. However, have you considered that they may have an ailment and those 3-4 spaces may actually make a difference? Or, as is often the case with me, Ithey have a placard for handicapped parking, but there are no handicapped spaces available?
And of course, they could just be lazy.

I pretty much agree with you about being lazy, some people just are. However I know some people have problems with their bodies so they need to park close because they seem to have a hard time walking far. However, I agree with you I pretty much don't care if I get a close spot, but I understand that my grandfather has breathing problems so he cannot breathe well, so he wants to get a closer spot. Have a nice day.

It does happen to me a lot but I refuse to get annoyed over it. I do however, take my time packing my car and properly dispose of my shopping cart before slowly backing up and waving goodbye. People are in too much of a hurry these days!

Yes, this bothers me too. It is just typical of our society. We have grown lazy, and want everything to be easy. This is also why everyone is fatter these days. I've started actually parking at the furthest parking place just to get more exercise.

If I have been in a situation like yours and they are not prepared to let me out I usually put the car in reverse so as they see the reverse lights first, then slowly move out and when they see I am coming closer, they certainly move! lol Although my judgement to date has been pretty good I would hate to think that one day they won't move!

Not everyone in America is ignorant and/or lazy. I have heard about this same thing happening elsewhere to. Seriously get to know more people before attacking everyone in a certain country.

I would have to agree that this is really frustrating , do they honestly thing the extra couple of steps they have to take are going to hurt them somehow .
I was trying to park at work the other day and someone took the spot I always take so I went around the loop to find another spot to park and when I came round she was still blocking all the space so I went in through another way and decided to park in front of her at which at the same time some one else was having the same problem with finding a place to park because she was blocking all of us off so I went in front and the other guy went in and blocked her in the middle . She got really mad and started honking on her horn but maybe next time she will not try and take every parking spot there is with trying to park her car .
That's my rand lol .

Maybe they have a handicap, and couldn't find one. I have MS, and have done that when all of the handicap are taken. It could have been they just had a disability.

However, regardless, when they saw you trying to get out, they shouldn't have been blocking you from getting out.

Its the signs of the times, in the super market parks, able bodied people park in disability bays, punks with no kids park in those allocated spaces, theres no respect for others,if you say anything you end up with a mouthful. Its the way we live.

Unfortunately there are people with handicaps who may look normal. I have MS, and so far, am still able to walk, barely. However, someone looking at me, probably are thinking why is "she parking there?" Just because someone looks able bodied doesn't mean they are. I have a friend who is 42 has had 3 heart attacks, and has a handicap parking place, looking at her people think the same thing. She has been verbally attacked. So before you go judging, count your blessings.

Thank you, I agree that its a sign of the times. Nobody cares for anyone but themselves. The person was not waiting for a handicaped spot, just a spot that was about three spots closer than the spot I was in and was blocking me from getting out. I understand that some disabilaties arent as visable as others but I really doubt that the young lady was disabled. Just lazy. :)

See that would really annoy the heck out of me and I would have beeped the other car to move or got out of my car and tell them to have some common courtesy to let me out of the space and not block it in. Why is it that when people enter a supermarket car park they lose all common sense?
Another thing that drives me mad is when you're about to back out of your parking space and some idiot just pushes their trolley out in front of your space and you have to get out to move it! How stupid is that? Huh heard of road rage? I get supermarket car park rage! LOL Ok my rant over too now :)

It bothers me more than I can say. It seems like a waste of time for someone to sit there that long when they could have been in the store already shopping before they get the parking space they are waiting on. It realy makes me mad when they are blocking me from going down the isle.

That has happened to me. I got so tired of it, that I laid on my horn til the car moved. I was in a hurry to get home, I can't sit and let frozen foods melt in the hot sun so someone could sit and wait for a stupid spot, if they only backed up I could have gave them mine. Only time I part far from the store is when I'm getting gas at there station or if I go by myself and don't have my kids with me. Walking won't kill you, plus when I get gas, I can spot an opening. 5 minutes is to long for me, maybe 1 and I'm letting them know to get the heck out of my way. I will use the horn only if my kids are there, and other things along with the horn if I'm alone.

Well yeah that is a bother if that happened to me and I am just wondering isn't there any security for the grocery to stop this kind of double parking? In our country in every stores there are security guards who checks this kind of stuffs.

Its ok, just let it all out =) we experience it too back here. And from observing, the usual reasons why some people do this is because:
1. if they have an elderly, disabled on board, or anyone that can't really walk that far- for easy ambulation.
2. if they are to buy something very very big... like a refrigerator or something...
3. if they just bought their car and is too scared to to have it carnapped..
so far these are just based from my observation, otherwise, i agree with you on the lazy part.. haha... happy postings!

What a lazy person. I think people nowadays tend to become lazier than ever. With the breakthroughs in technology, people's lifestyle has been changing. I know we should take advantage of it but let's not be to stupid in using it. Why would you wait for that parking slot (lame!) if you can actually park to another spot and walk. It only proves that we choose the easier way even though it looks really stupid.

Yeah, I think its stupid too. Specially, if you don't have some kind of a handicap requiring you to park on a spot closest to the door. Some people nowadays are just lazy. And the excuse for being in a rush should not be considered, if you could wait for 3 or more minutes to get a spot closest to the door, I think you could walk three to two minutes. And besides its good for your health.
