Ok, now it it Listeria on the chicken from Oscar Mayer/Louis Rich. All foods from the plant are being recalled. I just saw the video on Fox News. Listeria is potentially fatal and can cause miscarriages as well as still births. Consumers with questions about the recall should contact Kraft Consumer Response at 800-871-7117. http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2007Feb18/0,4670,ChickenRecall,00.html

What the heck is going on?? Why so many recalls--- This is huge.. Still births, miscarriages.. I don't purchase Oscar Mayer or Louis Rich. I still haven't purchased any more Peter Pan yet-- And I love PP.. I hope that all these recalls soon stop.. and the companies start cleaning up their act.

I wonder if we have equipment that is more sensitive in picking the stuff up or they are screwing up. And we can't forget about Taco Bell in NYC, contributing to the rat population.

What is scary is that they are recalling the pb now back to last year. That is a long time not to have found this problem!

I swear, I think we are going to all have to go back to growing our own food and give up buying food from major processors. I think these big businesses are trying to cut corners and increase their profit margin at the expense of health/hygiene. It is becoming very scary. We might be safer to do as 'Granny' did on the Beverly Hillbillys and go out for a little roadkill!!

That, or patronize the local processors, so you know their reputation, and you can see the way they do their business.

HaHa...yeah, the roadkill cafe. My oldest son used to have the cutest poster that was a spinoff of a diner menu...all items were roadkill! I so remember that part in the Beverly Hillbilly movie where granny hops out of their jalopy and says, "I saw it first"...good stuff. Thanks for the 'best response.'

SO one day we may actually get to eat at the roadkill cafe. It will probably be fresher then what we get in the stores.

I have my work cut out for me tomorrow evening. I just took seven different clients shopping for their groceries today. I think none of them ended up with those brands, but I am not sure. I understand that they had high incidence of "stomach flu" over the last two to three months. I have only been there a month and a half. Several of them had "the peanut butter" as did my hubby, who tends to have intestinal issues all too often. Thanks for the heads up. I do not have any of their products here at home.

Yes, I don't think we will ever know if it the stomach flu or something else. I am glad, I don't have any of their products at home either.

This is really getting scary. We have to start raising our own food and not buying anything from the store. Something is going on. This should not be happening all at once. Is nobody else wondering what is going on here?

I don't know, I think corporate America is trying to cut to many corners and the consumer is suffering.

How much quality control can you really have in something like hot dogs....talk about unhealthy-those cancer causing nitrates are probaby the healthiest thing in there. I would think we are looking at a lot of things that could cause the problem....even a thermometer being out of wack.

I agree with you but if companies are able to monitor millions of gallons af gas or tons of metal to make sure it meets the acceptable limits why can they not do this for food. It is not rocket science we know at what tepretures foods need to stored at, we know how to prevent cross contamination, we know how to check for these baterias or contaminates. It is not like this in new to us it jsut companies are in such a rush to get there product to market they are willing to accept a recall rather than loosing soem time while these tests are run.

Over the last few years we have had a breakdown in our food chain, we have had scabies, mad cow, E.coli, Salmonella and now Listeria. Is anyone starting to wonder if our food is being tampered with and we are not being told to keep the panic down?? if we can have planes hijacked then why could'nt we have our food and water poisoned?

I got to agree with Tecnoblast on that one. I am starting to wonder what the heck is going on myself. I think my kid was posioned by Peanut Butter, her doctor thinks so to, the bad part about it I don't have all the jars of GV that we have eaten since August, so there is no way to be 100% sure. I think it could very well be terrorist attacks and our government is keeping it hush hush.

I think it ihas a lot to do with corporate America, we have more people trying to do less. They figure they can save a few cents by cutting some head count or not properly training people and then it comes back later to bite them in the butt. Then we get E. Coli.

I hope your kid is ok and I wish we could explain this, it does seem to be rampant.

Sorry I have never bought any oscar mayer product, so I would not have to worry about this but thank you for sending it out in you discussions as I do think that when something is recalled that it should be announced, as some other people may miss out on the Fox News.
