I've got such a vivid and creative imagination, lots of ideas for a book, unfortunately not the patience to develop my characters. The moment I take pen to paper, my characters fall apart. Now that I'm in the States, I thought I would overcome the demon. Sadly...

Novels - books
Here are some "how to" sites I've used that may help you. The first one is the easiest:http://www.rsingermanson.com/html/the_snowflake.html http://www.steampunk.com/sfch/writing/ckilian/ Good luck!

First, you really have to want to write anovel. You have to be dedicated to the task. Most of the time you will enjoy writing, but there will be times when you have to force yourself. I have just finished writing my first book, and it took me two years. Good luck to you.

i think one of those most important things in writing is to write something you would want to read. If you wouldn't read it, why should anyone else. Start with a general topic and then narrow that down to a specific story. You know that you want to deal with mystery-thriller, so ask your self questions about the story. Is your character solving a mystery? Is it a physical or spiritual mystery? Is your character younger or older? Are they skilled at solving mysteries or does their life throw this situation at them? Are they solving the mystery from necessity, from practice, or for hire? Where is the story set? Is it an urban city, an upscale suburb, a small lake front community, or a small rural town? From there, just start to write. Write as much as you can as often as you can. Don't think about grammar or clarity or anything that will make you backspace. That's what editing is for. Lastly, character is one of the most important factors in any story, because if you have a clear idea of who your character is, then they start to dictate to you what happens to them. happy to try my friend

Writing a novel is a big project to undertake. You can start just by writing the storyline or plot you have in your mind. It can be just a short story... then develop and add your characters and more twist and plots so that it will grow into a novella, then into a full blown novel. Do not worry about the grammar or style. Just write to satisfy your own needs. Later on, you can get back and do the necessary editing and correcting. You may read a lot of advises regarding writing a novel, but the most important thing is to get started. Just write.
