If you have small active children in your house, you need some red wash cloths.

A very good hint I read somewhere is to keep red wash cloths with your first aid supplies. If a child gets hurt and is bleeding, he is liable to get more upset seeing you wipe the blood up with a paper towel or something that shows blood badly. Use a red wash cloth to wash up your child's injuries and you will prevent this extra distress, as the blood will not be so visible. Bleeding can be frightening, even if it is only a little bit.

Thanks for the tips, its really great thing to know about it, actually i didnot know this before, i have really a very naughty and active baby of 5 months, he so naughty. Once when my husband tried cutting his nails, he preaked his thumb with nailcutter, i was so scared and even cried seeing his blood flowing. Now after reading your tips, i will use the red clothes when ever, its necessary.

u know that actually makes alot of sense! my son has been getting alot of nose bleeds lately and it seems all i have are white wash cloths! it doesnt really seem to bother him too much though, he just tells me that the wash cloth is 'icky' and then giggles it off..

That's a fantastic tip. I always used white cloths and the children used freak out at the sight of the blood. They would cry more from the sight of the blood than they would from their injury. They have all grown up now but my grnadchildren stay with me a lot so I have put red washcloths on my shopping list. Thanks for the tip and hopefully I will see less tears in the future.

What a super idea! CJ is such a good boy when he gets a cut and bleeds; it really doesn't freak him out at all; he just keeps apologizing that he got hurt...lol
I believe I will get some red wash clothes at second hand store and keep them just for those occasions; just so he can be calmer. Thanks for the suggestion, Gerty.

Apologies for hurting himself, that is sweet, and I can just hear it happening.

That's a good tip! I can honestly say that it hadn't even occured to me that simply using a red wash cloth might help! It makes sense, though. We happen to have some that my son use for bis baths, as his favorite color is red. Might have to invest in a few more for the first aide box!

Some people are really bothered by the sight of blood, no matter how logical they try to be. I am lucky, that is one thing that does not bother me.

They may get upset if their parents act upset. Kids act the way we expect them to.

Hello gerty, that was a good idea. I can pass this information to my brother. He have two little boys of his own. Mine are both grade schoolers now. Both of them are aware of what blood is all about. I remember when both my girls were still young, whenever they hurt themselves, I will immediately tell them that its "ketchup." LOL...we always have to pick some good words for our little ones. Thank you for the info.

I like the idea, but why just for children. Children are not the only ones who get that way. I think we all get a little more jumpy when we cut ourselves.

You are right, some people do get awfully freaked out by blood. In addition to the red wash cloths, from a disposable point of view, red paper party napkins would probably be good to have now, too.
