Al Gore isn't walking the walk....... Depressing to know to be honest.....

It was in Saturday's newspaper that it has been found that All Gore's housing estate uses more electricity in a month than the average American household uses in an entire year! So much for minimising the effect on the environment!!
Where are the solar panels? Wind powered generators? Fossil fuel alternatives to power his estate?? I really think a man such as Al Gore can make people stand up and take notice on a global scale but not if he can't practice what he preaches.

This is likely to be a timely kick in the rear end for Al. And I think he of all people would be embarrassed by it and will do something about it. At least give him the grace to correct it. By and large he has done the planet a big service. Am not making excuses, perhaps he just needed a gentle, you know, AHEM!

Of course he should be given the chance to correct it! But what a blatant oversight!! I am just finding it interesting to see that of all things you think he would have focussed on, he didn't! Charity begins at home yes? Thanks for responding.

You didn't expect him to believe in what he says, did you? Under the cover of the fight against global warming, he's simply trying to gain more governmental control over people's lives and to raise taxes. Besides, looking like a gentle tree-hugger in a suit will win him more vote.
Al Gore is a politician. Politicians lie.
I rest my case. ;)

Mmmm. Not stereotyping are we! If the man so much as changes one piece of legislation that will better mankind then I am for his success. Better the taxes paying for something that falls under sustainable environmental development rather than defense! Thanks for responding.

Hi James, great topic. It is unfortunate that Al Gore is not practicing what he preaches although what he is saying makes more sense than not.
I myself have started a campaign for a better tomorrow which requires participation of most everyone within my direct area. We live in an area that has abused the land and forgotten about the hazards that come from this abuse. Cancer, asthma, and learning disabilities are at an all time high here. I am asking, talking and pleading with people to take a stand that will actually make a difference. Many people love my ideas but few want to do the work which leaves us at only ideas.
In the case with Al Gore it brings up the thought "do as I say, not as I do". Even if only a handful of people really listen and understand the dangers of continuing to harm our planet without re-guard for our wellfare than more power to him.
We just need more active people getting involved. Truth be told it does not matter how much good anyone tries to do someone else will find fault.
My campaign has raised brows and started people searching for ways to demean my ideas. People will go to great lengths to remain lazy. I mean how hard can it be to change what your doing now to better the future for your children? There really are some easy obvious steps.
Best wishes

Very well put! Proactivity is the key for sure. Good for you for making the steps towards change and reeducation. Unfortunately human nature presents an uphill battle as you have pointed out. Everybody expects everyone else to be doing something and tend to believe that things will ultimately take care of themselves. But unfortunately they don't. Good luck and thanks for responding.

Wow teckno good for you! What do you think about using organic, biodegradable, non-toxic cleaners? I could really use someone like you within my campaign.

Well maybe he eventually will with all this pressure from the media now...I for one do everything I can to reduce my energy consumption and carbon footprint. I drive a hybrid, I purchase renewable energy from my energy company, I use energy efficient bulbs, I recycle everything, and I ride my bike and walk as much as I can, I also partake in what is called the 100 mile diet club, which is a diet which only purchases food from local farmers, such as at farmers markets. It also reduces the trucks and shipments of products and goods that have to travel vast distances...emitting all that pollution. Also I am a vegetarian, and being vegetarian also reduced global warming because livestock is as much as a contributer to greenhouse gases as the transport industry according to the united nations food and agriculture organization. So as long as people can change their lives in positive ways, then I hope the word gets out to inspire others to do the same.

This is a disappointing fact which holds truth from all sides. The rich and the affluent influence others on what are the right things to do in order to be able to make others observe the proper steps to undertake to arrest the ill effects of things. But they exempt themselves from what they are preaching because, they have been used to ordering others to do their work for them.
This fact holds true to the likes of Al Gore. Unless one of his trusted advisers will come to him to introduce the idea of having solar panels and windmills as the friendliest available sources of energy, he will not think of it.
I believe I will have to say this, too. The burning of fossil fuels are found to be among the high contributors of fumes which cause the thinning of the ozone layer.

I checked out your link..... The facts and figures at the base of the page still show that he is consuming considerably more than the average household; even if the averages are six years old that would be a hell of a gap to close in on! The Gore family have already responded to this claim by stating that they are looking at solar paneling and fossil fuel alternatives; so this in itself would somewhat indicate that there is an issue and they are aware of it..... Thanks for responding.

True, but he lives in an area where everyone is using considerably more. And his house is not an average home, it is 4 times larger. Not making excuses, i think he can and should be doing more. If my tiny home can be eco-effiecent he certainly can make his mansion as well.

Yes he does live in a more power hungry state!! But lets put it into perspective..... The average per household usage in Nashville is 15,600 kwh per year. Let us assume that Gore's residence is 5 times the average size.
This would mean that if he was to assume the average, he would be using around 78,000 kwh per year. He is actually using 191,000 kwh per year!! This is almost 2.5 times the average even taking into account that his estate is considerably larger than average..... He has to do something, first for himself, then for his state if he wishes to be taken more seriously.
