Not Me I would never tell a lie

hmm... Lie sometimes is important. if this world is as white as snow. i would think that's monoton so lie sometimes gives color in each person's life so that's why i guess that we should lie according to certain circumstances. if we lie to our Girlfriend for something good or maybe to not hurt her feelings. i guess it's worthed it right? but if we always tell lies it's a problem too i guess well don't lie because of what's right or wrong but lie according to the situation. sometimes there were times that you need to lie to keep things going the right way hope that it can help u a little

Sometimes it is necessary to tell a lie so that the other person does not get hurt, oh no in this case I could not tell the man where the river was I would tell him the opposite way so that he would not kill himself.

I would handle that situation differently. I would hope that I would have the Spirit with me to know how to handle that situation. I think I would try to talk to him about something that would give his life some value. I still belive that honesty is the best policy and yet at Christmas, I find myself deceiving others so they wont know what gifts I have got for them. So I guess if I am totally honest, I try to be honest in all my dealings but sometimes I fail

Maybe I would tell him that I didn't know. Not the truth perhaps, but not directions away from it either. "I'm sorry, I can't tell you," sort of response.

I think lying is necessary if it would help prevent someone from getting hurt. It can be compared to the question of whether you will tell a secret or not. If you think lying can help someone without hurting anyone, then it may be necessary. But we should also consider other people and make sure we don't hurt them when we lie. People tend to lie to save them from trouble but some people tend to lie to save other people from trouble (it may sometimes be called self-sacrifice).

well, in that case, it wouldn't either. there are those called white lies. but still, these are lies nontheless... LOL. but there are really instances when the best thing to do is to shut up and say no word rather than talk of lies.

well..nobody can live for the lrest of his/her life without committing lies even once..its on peoples existence and sins are always their. Nobody is perfect anyway. you just have to control it, to stop doing it again and again...

i think i wont say truth at that place because it will harm that person it is necessary to lie there as per my opinion.

The Bible says that all men tell lies. The lie could be one that's clean because we thought it was really such but it is because we have only forgotten all about it, or we tell a white lie thinking that it is what's best for everyone or, we could tell a malicious lie to get us out of a compromising situation. If we tell half truths we are in effect lying. If we are inventing stories and make it appear akin to the truth, again, we are lying. There are lots and lots of scenarios which lead to and make us lie although we haven't got the slightest intention of doing so.

Well the best way is just to tell him you aren't going to help him get to the river because of the reason he wants to get there. You don't have to lie and say you don't know or tell him how to get there knowing the reason why!! In this particular situation, I would probably see if there was some way to help him.

what for to tell a lie? i believe that in the end all it's like boomerang, and it will come back to us. beside, it's better to feel pure then dirty.

yeah,in my opinion,sometimes to tell a lie is very necessary.In your case,we can see it,we tell a lie to help someone.But i think we shouldn't tell a lie better,you know?

No I agree with you. I think there are times when lies are necessary. We probably lie more then we realize. In most cases so we don't hurt someones feelings. But you are right I wouldn't tell him where the river was either.

i do agree that there are times to lie but the case you present isn't necessarily one of them. i would definately talk with the man. What is wrong? is there a way i can help? etc.

Yes I will go with you.There are times when we should hide the truth and tell lies.If a lie is going to buy a life and at the same situation a truth may kill someone then the best option is to lie.

Scruples is a great game! If nothing else, it very clearly shows that not all things in life can be categorized as just black or white. It uses its questions to expose the many shades of gray. While I ordinarily would not lie, in this instance, I would probably not tell him where the river was as I place a value on human life...both mine and others. If he had approached me and asked where the river was so he could BATHE, I would have gladly pointed out the way.
