What age do you think is too old for a nap?
My son is 2 and takes a 2 hour nap everyday. Some people say he is too old for naps. But if he skips his nap he will go to bed about an hour earlier and wake up a few hours later ready to play.
My niece stopped taking naps when she was 2 1/2.

My stepdaughter took naps in her full day kindergarten, so I'd guess up until around 5 is common. First grade goes all day, and that's usually started around age 6. It all depends on the kid and how active they are though.

I believe this is up to you, it seems like he does need the nap still (heck I even still take names sometimes at 28). I believe you should let your son decide on his own when he doesn't need a nap. I think his body will know on its own when he doesn't need the rest.

My nephew took naps until he was 5 so there really is no age limit Just whenever you as a parent feels necessary that they don't need a nap anymore. If he still sleeps well at night then why not let him take a nap

My son is 1 and he takes a 2 to 2 and 1/2 hour nap every day. A couple times a week my daughter who is 4 and I will also take a nap for about a hour. My oldest child is in school now, but still took naps when he was 5 after kindergarden for a hour or so. I don't think there is a set age to determine when napping should end.

Every Child is differen so you need to not compare your son with your niece. Your son maybe growing and needs his naps. Growing is hard work. Children wil let you know when they are too old to take naps. When he goes to bed at his regular time with out a nap and sleeps as he should you will know that he dosen't need naps any more. Enjoy his nap time while you can. Take one yourself now and again.

Too old or a nap? Honestly i think that is totally up to the child. My 2 yr old takes a nap sometimes but i still put him in his room for quite time. When he does take a nape it is like 4hrs. I have 3 kids 5yr, 2yrs and 4mo. Obviuosly my 4mo old takes a nap. It started when my oldest started pm kindergarden it really interfered with my 2 yr olds nap so he sometimes dosent take one. On the weekends my 5 yr old takes a 4 hr nap and still goes to bed at 8. I love nap time and honestly dont know how i would get my cleaning done if they didnt. If your son dosent take his nap and you put him to bed do you let him up to play? I have always been strict when it comes to bed time, i used to have a problem with my daughter gettibg out of bed and i ferberized her. Now she was in a crib and unable to get out of her bed, but it worked. Now my son i put him to bed while he was awake from a newborn and he NEVER gets out of bed. He is even in a toddler bed and wont get up till i get him. I guess i just got lucky with him because i never had a problem with him getting up to play at night. He scares me because he dosent even let me know when he is awake and i wish he would call for me. My suggetsion is just let him know that it is not ok to get out of bed at night and play. That when you put him to bed that thats it. He might just be testing his bounds. Maybe dont put him to bed early put him to bed at the normal time. Too old for nap its all on your child no one elses. Every child is unike in ther own way. Take tips from other mothers but you know your own child better than anyone else. Go on your gut. Good luck

Try not to look your son in the eye. Parents who make eye contact with sleepy kids inadvertently encourage them to snap out of their sleep. You must enter your son sleep space at night don't hold his gaze, or serenade him with your favorite song and soothe him back to sleep with soft voice and gentle touch. If your son sleeps more during the day than at night, help him to know the difference. During the day, allow plenty of sunlight into the house. Put your son down for daytime naps in well-lighted rooms. To induce night time sleepiness install dimmers on the lights not only in your son's room but also in other rooms where you both spend a lot of time. During the night if your son wakes up don't turn on the lights or carry him into a brightly lighted room. The shift from dark to light tells his brain its time to rise and shine instead soothe him back to sleep in his bedroom. If early morning sunlight prompts your son to wake too early or if he has trouble napping in the afternoon install room-darkening shades. Hoping this sleep advice helping you a lot (^.^) have a nice day
