One of the older books that I think has a huge impact was George Orwell's 1984. I think it was the first time the idea of 'big brother' was introduced. It brought an idea to the population that the government is really watching everything we do. And I think that notion is not only true these days, but has gripped the population with terror.
But more recently, I believe the DiVinci Code. This one book created so much debate and talk. I personally loved the book, but I am also not Catholic. Yet the ideas in the book really gave me something to think about. It also threatened what the Catholic church stands for and created a massive stir in that religion.

If there are ever book that impact the world in terms of socirty and politics its the classics. Some of the ones ive found to really turn the world are books like 1984, the catcher in the rye, lord of the flies, and a farewell to armrs. All thses books in their time were really impcatful in their time. There are reasons these books are classics its because they effected politics and culture etc when they were first published. This list is of course not exhaustive but they are some of the books ive found to really be amazing and some of my favorites
