Why?! God This Irks Me!!!

Why on earth do people talk to the elderly like their friggen babies? I mean, these people are just like us, their wonderful, they have gone through life, made it as far as they have, as far as a lot of us never thought we would make it, and have so many amazing stories to tell, it just gets on my nerves.... Well okay, lately a lot of things, do, but this one, it's one of my biggest issues.... Just like why people treat the elderly like their a burden to us, when most of them have raised their own children, taken in their fair share of people, cared for as many as they could, dealt with loss like we have, Pushed to survive... Why is it people show no moral care in this world for these amazing people? they have so much to give, so much to teach, and not enough people understand that one day, a lot of us are going to be just like them... I know i for one sure as heck wouldn't want to be talked to like a baby, treated like hell and dismissed on a dime.... What do all of you think, i would really like to hear some insight on this subject... Thanks
