No when you rate someone they aren't notified of the rating. The only way a member knows that they are receiving negatives is because of their star rating. That's how the star comes about from members rating your responses and discussions. The more negatives you get the lower your star will be. There is also talk that best responses can bring up your star, not receiving them could keep your star down.
Just remember to start quality discussions and respond with quality and you will get many pluses and have a high star rating.
Make sure to refer to the guidelines on how to use the rating system, the "-" button isn't to be marked just because someone doesn't agree with you. It's to be used when the responder didn't reply with a quality answer. As in they responded with "I have no knowledge of that." This would be a reason to give a negative.
Hope this helps! :)

Thank you so much for this answere to the question! It does clear things up for me. As of now I have not gave any minuses anyway.
I am looking forward to having a star next to my name and I hope it has a good number in it. I work at starting quality discussions that people will be interested in and I put alot of thought into all my responses. I hope I am doing well but it is slow going! I can't spend a lot of time on here as I have a special needs child who takes up alot of my time and I work part time outside the home.
Hope I am doing well on here when I am here! :)

No there is no method still on mylot which will notify you that your discussions have been rated positive or negative. The only way is to get indication that whether you have got positive or negative ratings is through your star rating.
If your star rating or out of 100 rating has gone up that means that your discussions have got positive responses otherwise negative if the star rating has gone down.
But which discussions of yours have been rated positive or negative, you never come to know.

No, as far as I know there is no way of knowing who is rating you positively or negatively or when they do it. I can understand why mylot doesn't offer this feature though. If it was offered there would probably just be positive and negative rating wars going on where people try to "get back" at the other person for rating them negatively. I think it would wreck the whole purpose for the rating system and the good responses wouldn't be given credit when deserved.

Many members have informed me that they have rated my response '+', but I cound not see that in my responses. Whereas when i rate others responses, I can see my ratings.
