Are people basically the same all over the world?

Frankly, I disagree. Although we are humans live in the Earth, we tend to see things differently. Also needs and interests are different too as we think different. Example, some need a car to show off, but some need a car really for convenience. SOme like to read and some like to shop or sleep. the only thing that we are alike is we will go thru as a baby, follow by kid, then adults and at the end die. I think we need coffin at the end of the life - same needs.

We are all born with the same basic needs. The need for food, shelter, warmth, and love. During our growing up the culture that we are raised in shapes us to be very different from one another. If you take a newborn baby from one country and transplant it in another it will grow up to be like those around it and will be nothing like it would have been if it grew up in it's original country.

I disagree with the above statment. For a start, your interest and mine are 99% different :P The 1% I attributed it to the fact that we are both participating in myLot discussions. I also believe that no two people are alike, even twins. I knew of a pair of twins. They may have identical looks yet their behaviour and thinking are so much different. It is also because we are all different that the world is so rich and colorful, which contributes more to the differnce between people.

Basically we are the same when we are born. But as time goes on, each one has his own experiences, environment influences and so he becomes unique.

That is because may be we are all humans? Our basic needs as humans, are the same. But interests sometimes can differ according to different races, religions etc.

Agree that the basic needs are the same no matter where u are from...Things like Food ,shelter and clothing is something that u must have. But again if u are rich and wealthy u dont really think about ur basic needs anymore, because u will have more than what is required. And ur priorities will be different.
