Some Hints Maybe?

I find that while on myLot I use a pad of paper to keep track of things here. Like when I get an email notification I usually don't read it I just see whom started the new discussion & I write that friends name down for future refrence to respond to their new discussion. I don't ever read the ones about responses as I see my page at all times & check for new resposnes. So this seems to assist me a bit while I'm busy posting commenting or responding here as I'm trying to get my time frame right. My question is does anyone have any other things they do along the same lines to keep track of these things without having to read all the emails & jumping from site to site to find that some haven't posted today? Any & all help would be great. My desk becomes so cluttered with post-its etc after a 5 hour day here. HAHAHA!!! Any responses would be great. Thanks in advance and Happy postings from Grandpa Bob

I don't have many friends and those I do have are not posting all the time, so I don't get stuck in the searching process. But I have to keep record of the responses to my discussions. Here my gmail notifier helps me much. Actually I sign in to notifier and then search pages according to the alerts if any. Are your alerts too of the same kind? Unfortunately I try to keep all post-its in my mind and it gets cluttered:( That's why I always forget what I was going to post here once I log in.

I meant that my gmail notifier (a desktop tool from gmail) helps me with mylot. First mylot sends me alerts to my gmail account and from there it is sent to me directly on my desktop via gmail notifier. So I don't have even to sign in to read emails:) The subject of the alert tells me the name of my friend. It saves me from noting it down too. I hope you understand though I've written it all in a confusing way.

Since I use Yahoo and not my private email to get notifications i just keep them in a folder on yahoo and then when i get a chance to go through the emails like this morning i delete the emails that i answered. Same thing with the notifications of the ones i started and someone answers. I also have a notebook and write down the date and how many discussions i answered to keep track and see if i can figure out how i got money for the day. Also i can use the notebook to come up with new ideas to start.

I use Gmail instead of Yahoo and set up folders so that mails from myLot go directly to them. What I like about Gmail is that individual emails are set up in 'conversation' form, so if they've got the same subject, they're grouped together in sub-trees. It's easier for me to manage the different discussions that way.

It is just as quick and saves more time if the emails are answered to as they come in. Looking back and seeing that a discussion has been commented on in the discussions I have started column is eneasy way of finding out who has made that commented and how long ago that comment was made. It is a bit time consuming if the we have to catch up after some absense from th computer or busy elswhere but thats the way sometimes. it is a very good system here on mylot as most of the discussions are on the same screen so that they can easily be read compared to other discussion boards on other sites.

Well now the answers are getting better. I'll have to see if I can program myself to do it that way someday. Soon too I hope. HAHAHA.

Here are a few things that I have started doing since joining mylot. When I receive notifications that my friends started a discussion I read them and then place them into a couple of different "folder categories" that I started. I folder to definitely respond, another needs some though prior to responding, and one that says maybe, these are primarily for ones that have links that I need more information to answer. If I read a discussion that I have no knowledge of, or can add nothing new to the discussion it's placed into the trash bin. I also have a notebook, and as I'm on the computer or out and about my notebook goes along with me. I jot down ideas for future discussions. I have started bringing my camera with me when out and about and taking photos of things that I might be able to use in other members discussions. I do write down the number of notifications to responses that I received as I found that some people drop in a comment in the middle and then I have to go through all pages to find the comment so that 1 I can rate them and 2 to make sure that if it required a response that I have given one. I don't want to miss anyone. I will need to join a 12 step program soon, just not ready to admit that I'm a mylot addict just yet. :)

I turned my notifications off because they keep coming very sporadically and then I usually find my inbox overflowing in the mroning. I use a pad of paper to keep track of how many posts I do in a day and what my post count is, so I can try to figure out what I'll get paid for the day, and also it lets me keep a track of how many posts a day I do on average. I find that helps me a lot.

I think what best you can do is use the notepad or the wordpad in you computer, as simple as that!

I do not read my e-mails I look in discussions I've started or my friends have started, I get so many and with dial up it takes to long to do it that way. I will also go to their profile if I do not see one from them for a while. I keep a piece of paper under my key board for quick notes that I will only need for a minute or two and a pad beside me for more permanent notes. Mostly I just run around here and there looking at everything to get something to respond to.

I go through my emails each morning. I read the responses, then if I wish to reply to a response, I do so straight away, or just keep that email for a littrle while, until I have time to reply. Then I go though new discussions my friends have started. I keep those I am going to respond to, and delete those I can't respond to (such as tax laws i Canada. I then go through my unresolved discussions, and decide if it is time to choose a best response.. Next I go through responses I have received for new or fairly recent discussions. I rate them all, and reply to some. Then I start responding to my friends discussions. Next, I go through hot topics, or any new discussions, and decide what I can reply to. At any stage, if I can think of a new discussion, I will start it. I have not really been keeping a record of who is responding and who isn't, but I should be, as I have a lot of "friends", many of whom are NOT responding to any of my discussions, and I am going to delete them..

Hi there granpa bob! I usually log into mylot during my not so busy times in the office. I enjoy reading and responding to good topics here. I don't really do anything like that. I don't know since I usually check my discussions first and then go back to the main discussion where you can find the popular ones and hope that there's something I could actually relate to and eventually be able to reply to it.
