I have suffered from the same problem you are suffering right now and it because of the older version of service pack or because you're using the older version of windows. Try to update your windows version or update your service pack in service pack III. Hi friend the same problem i have faced in past and it comes due to worm attack on the pc u do one thing either download a update from microsoft site or use macafee antivirus. since i was getting error code 128 that is lasas.exe cause an eror and ur system will bshut down in 1 min pleas close ur unsaved aplications.

before you do reformat your system.. try to boot up in safe mode and if you can get it into safe mode withour shutting down then open up msconfig in the run command and then try to remove the checks from the startup menu. hop this helps
