She was the only guest vocalist to appear on a Led Zeppelin album ever she's on "The Battle Of Evermore" on Led Zeppelin IV. She was also a famous folk rock singer in her own right and performed with a band called Fairport Convention and for a short time had a band called Fotheringay before she went solo.
I seem to be the only person with her listed as an artist I listen too, but surely there must be some more people who are fans on here?

Well I wouldn't necessarily call myself a fan of Sandy, but I do remember her. I even had a few Fairport Convention albums (back in the days of vinyl, and long before CDs - LOL!), in the 70's. I can honestly say I don't remember Fotheringay at all though!

They only did one album before they split up, it's good though has some nice songs on it including "The Sea".

Thanks for that - I'll have to try and find it one day! We have loads of old "Reord Fairs" near where I live, and they often have bargains, and rarities if one has the time to sift through everything.

Yes, I've heard of her and like her, but then I'm an 'old timer'! I'm surprised someone your age knows about her. Didn't know she was on a Led Zep song, though.I like folk/singer-songwriter type music, from the '60s (and before) to today.

I didn't know Battle Of Evermore was even a duet till I read it in a biography of Sandy Denny I read on the internet. It just sounded like they were double tracking Robert Plants voice to me. I can't believe I didn't recognise Sandy's voice.

She wrote brilliant evocative songs I'm surprised there hasn't been more interest in her through the years.

i had never heard of Sandy Denny until i heard a remarcable tribute to sandy by the late, great, Philip Lynot. It opened up a brand new world for me. I particularly like the work Sandy did with the Strawbs

The stuff she did with Fotheringay was great too, shame they never got to make their second album.

Aha... you're not alone, my friend. I too, know of Sandy Denny but I fear we're showing our ages a little. ha ha ha.
I remember her singing on The Battle of Evermore and I also remember Fairport Convention, who made a few folky type records. To be honest, I don't have her listed because I'd forgotten about her. lol. I suppose as years go by, you change from the lesser heard to the more popular singers of the time. I like all types of music so I guess I change with the times. I can't get into rap, house or jamming, but other than those, I'm pretty into music.

There seems to be renewed interest in her work hopefully she'll be making a comeback, Richard Thompson is going to perform the entire Leige And Leaf this year at Fairport Conventions fesival "Cropredy".
