Thursday March 8th it will be International Women's Day again! When this day was just announced by the UN some 15 to 20 years ago, women all over the world hung out white bed sheets from the windows on that day, proclaiming they supported women's rights. These days the activities may be less openly, but the day is still conmemorated, at least here in the Netherlands.
What does your country do on International Women's Day? Are you a full supporter of women's rights or couldn't you care less? What are you doing yourself? Do you consider yourself a emanancipated or liberated woman? And how do men look at women's rights these days? Back in my days (pooh pooh) it was a hot issue... is it still?

I think there are mixed views on what 'liberated' stands for and formost it is the economic issue that women'sliberation hinges on. With more women running their own businesses and keeping their own wealth, this has been the springboard for which women have been able to'purchase' further freedoms. I personally think the world has a long way to go. I will think about this within the next few days as to what i can do to contribute to such an event. Well my hubby rubs my feet at least three times a week soi can't complain myslef.I have more than one day a year as my day. But many women in the world don't so we all have to try and be positive to contribute a significant change that willbenefit women worldwide.

I may call myself lucky to have all the freedoms now a woman, or a man for that matter, can wish for. When I was a girl though, I was raised to get married (mu mother didn't think of us girls staying single, which the lot of us did for a long time..., and although we got an education, we were told to put our job aside when time was due(!).
Yes, many women in the world haven't got the privilege of self determination, so we may call ourselves the lucky ones, I guess.

no... i dont think its such a BIG issue anymore nowadays! now more or less all women have equal status with men and if there are chauvinistiv men still existing, they would be humbled soon!
well i dont think we need a special day to remind us that women are equal to men! its not needed anymore!
i dont think i would celebrate it!

I don't really celebrate it myself, but I can't help myself thinking of it every year again and at least mention it to a few people....;-) Must be because I was once one of them hard working women, underpaid, underrated and yet so much smarter than the men I worked with... We had no pension rights, and if you got pregnant you were supposed to give up your career! Not to mention women's rights in a lot of countries with a male dominant society...

Congratulations and cheers to all women globally on this occasion. You are equal to men in many ways. Thank God that there are many women leaders, presidents, prime ministers, politicians, etc.

yes, it was a real big issue in earlier days since woman did not enjoyed equal rights, they used to work a lot and were not paid equally as men, nor they were given pregnancy leave, and it was due to which the women's day came into limelight. as such personally i dont celebrate womens day and women's bill is long pending in the parliament, which itself points what men feel about womens right.
