Recently, I decied to sell my digital camera. My reason for selling it is because I want to buy one with a rechargeable battery (kind of like the one in our cellphones). The current digital camera that I have uses 4 triple A Alkaline batteries. I posted an ad on wahoy.com (which is an online free classified ads board). Soon I got three text messages expressing interest. I set out to meet the first among the three to send a text message. Apparently, the buyer was a schoolmate back when I was in high school. So now, I feel guilty of selling my digital camera to this person because I know that she won't be satisfied with it. Do you think I should just sell it to another person?

Tell the buyer all the advantages and the defects why you have to change it. If the buyer still wants to buy your commodity, then you have not cheated him. He might have a good use for what he's buying despite the disadvantages that you told him.

Thanks for the response. You're right. It's not right that I have feelings of guilt. It's not cheating.

Honesty is the best policy. Whatever we do, we should be honest. Honesty is a quality of a good salesman. Even if you do not speak so many words if they see that you're honest they will buy your commodity. Tell your former schoolmate the advantages and disadvantages of your digital camera. She might like it even with the disadvantages. Don't prejudge that she won't be satisfied with it. If you have already told her the things about your camera and she won't like it, then look for other buyers.

Well today I finally was able to sell my camera. Not to the first buyer but to another buyer who bought the camera with no questions asked. In all fairness to me, it was a polaroid digital camera with no defects and everything was intact from the box up to the manual. I sold it half the price I bought it which was a good buy I would say for anyone. I guess in the end, some people would be contented with the camera. Indeed, what's trash to me might be gold for somebody else.

I don't like selling anything to friends, because you feel embarrassed if something goes wrong with it! The friend may not hold you to blame, but you can't help but think they might, or you feel guilty for selling them something that you have promoted or recommended to them only for it not to work or not to be as high as performance as you made it out to be. I'd much rather sell things to strangers like on Ebay. I'd rather give something away to my friends than for money, beccause you could loose a friendship or good aquaintance this way.

Hmmm. I see, and really not a big deal. A camera which runs on battery, somewhat like the one I am usin, Canon A530, it also runs on batteries, but I have bought some nice rechargable batteries and it goes fine with me, same as charging your rechargable camera.
I just want to say that, I really do not see any problem in using or selling a camera that runs on batteries to any body. And if you think that if you are not satisfied with it then no body else would either be then you are wrong. I am advising you that if your friend wants it then you must sell it to them. But be a fair man and just tell and describe everything about the camera to your friend first and then also if they want to buy then let it be their choice. Ok, Take care.

If you don't think she will be satisfied with it maybe you should state all your reasons to her that you think she might not like about the camera and see if she does still want it . She might be happy with what it does and if she tells you , never mind then you can check with the other people and sell it to one of them .
Best of luck !!
