questions about christianity?

i just had a preacher come to my house recruting for his church. he seemed like a nice guy but he kinda freaked me out. he said god sent him here for me becausse i am a siner and he know i want to be saved. he said i need to repent my sins. i know this but did he really know that or do they say that to everyone. i am a sinner and i dont go to church but i do believe in god and jesus. i am not married and if i go to church living with my boyfriend isnt that a sin? i dont go because i i dont understand it. i think it is a sign that i should go becasue everyone is trying to get me to go.
