Swapping books

Ok mylot friends.. today is the first time I have learned of this site, www.paperbackswap.com -- its a website where you become a member and list the books you have to swap, you get credits for every 3 you list and you can buy credits, then request books that you would like to read. I have this problem.. I buy books and end up keeping them because I know I will lose money if I list them too low on ebay and I personally would at least like to break even with what I buy. So I tried this site, you list 9 books- easy, I know I have 9 books laying around (that are in decent condition!) and can request ones you want to read but havent. You can create a wish list also for books you want that aren't on the website yet. Let me tell you.. there are TONS of books on there that I havent read yet so this is so worth it to me. Just thought I'd put it out there for anyone else thats interested. Enjoy!

bookmooch.com is another great site. i was under the impression that pbs gives you credits only for the first 9 books you list, not for additional books you list. is that correct? on bookmooch, you get 1/10 of a credit for each book you list. i haven't decided what site to join yet, still weighing the pros/cons of each!!!

On paperbackswap you do get 3 credits for the 9 books you list, then as you mail books, and the recipient receives it, you receive a credit for each book that equals to another book or 2 for an audio that you can order.

Oh wow this sounds absolutely awesome I must check this out right now! I have the very bad habit of buying a bunch of books, I'm a total bookworm, but some of them I just wasn't impressed with or I don't like well enough to hang onto. I try to sell them on Amazon rather than Ebay but it's hard to sell back some of these. This sounds like a great alternative, thank you!

There are a lot of great books on the site in many different genres. I am always low on credits because so many great books are posted every day. You use a credit to order a book and the other person pays the postage to mail the book. When somebody selects a book from your shelf, then you pay the postage to mail the book. It usually costs $1.59 to mail a book, which is a lot less than buying a new book.

Thats interesting. I have a ton of books just sitting in my shelf that I have no idea what to do with. Maybe I'll look at that site. :)

I LOVE PaperbackSwap! I've been a member there for about a year now. I kind of go in spurts with listing books and requesting books, but oddly, I've done both today - and one that I just listed this morning has been requested already. It definitely saves you a ton of money on books - a lifesaver for me, since I read non-stop. My biggest problem is getting my hands on a really good book that I want to add to my collection and not relist. I have to go through my shelves every few months and MAKE myself thin them out. Glad you're enjoying PBS already!

I'll check out this site. Here is a site I use to get paperbacks for free - www.thebookcart.com - you deposit $10.00 into the site for shipping costs, and list the books that you have for others to read. When you ship a book, you get credit for the shipping costs, and when you request a book, your account gets debited for the shipping costs. They have a lot of books and I have been with thebookcart for many years, so I can recommend this site.
