medical horror stories....do you have one??

having endured many medical problems due to a congenital defect that was finally "fixed" 6 years ago...my faith in the medical community was severely shattered and the treatment I recieved at times was deplorable...from accusations of alcoholism/drug addiction to outright "attention seeking"...when the defect was discovered...I was never given an apology by even one of the "professionals" that made these accusations...so called "specialists" in thier fields of medicine..unable to admit thier mistakes...i realize not all doctors are the same and there are some great ones out there...i would urge everyone to take thier health in thier own hands..if you are not happy with your doctors opinion and you have reason to believe there is something seriously wrong with you...get another doctore...keep looking until you find one that listens and refuse to take "no" for an answer...many of us are easily intimidated by medical professsionals especially when we are sick and vulnerable...don't let that be the case when it comes to your personal health...be persistant....does anyone else have a similar experience...and what did you do to overcome the barriers of medical arrogance??
