Ever experienced travelling by plane with your pets or dogs? Any information would be helpful. My chow is back in Manila and since me and my husband are here in the US for work, I'm planning to bring my chow here once we get our own place. Do you have any experience? I'm a bit worried. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I shipped a cat and dog from CA to London and then on to Ireland. I met some people that did dog shows and shipped their dogs regularly and they give me a few tips that I thought really helped my own pets. The said not to sedate them as it can cause problems with the animals being able to regulate their body temperature, and as they are down in the hold no one is going to be checking on them. The also suggested freezing water and having it 'slow drip' into their water dish so even if they hit turbulance, more water would melt down into the container later. You also have to really follow the airline's guidelines in terms of crate sizes and vaccinations or hose animals won't be boarded. Good luck. I was so worried, but it all turned out just fine.

I forgot, I also wrote up a little flyer with their names and asking could they be placed side by side in the hold. I wrote a little blurb about how old they were and their personalities. I don't know if it helped, but I was hoping it would encourage the loaders to talk to them and try to soothe them.

If a pet travels well in a car they normally will be fine, however, you made need to medicate it to keep it calm and relaxed. You may want to check the requirment for entering the country with a pet, I am not sure if it is still true but at one point a pet entering the country had to quarantined for up to six months. Good luck with your travels.

Well my dog loves to travel in the car so I guess he'll be fine. But I'm just worried because he'll be left alone for several hours during the flight. I guess I couldn't visit him so I'm a bit worried he'll get hungry or scared.
