I definitely think that it matters. Especially if you are payng ofr higher end product from a salon. Shampoo is used to cleanse the hair and scalp. It helps remove dirt and oil from the hair and scalp. The conditioner is used to smooth the hair and to rehydrate the hair. Shampoo, although it is good for removing oils and dirt can dry hair out as it strips it. Using the conditioner helps restore the moisture. It makes the hair softer and more managable. FOr certain hair type, such a as mine, conditioner is definitely needed. I have fine hair and if I do not use conditioner I cannot brush through my hair. Hope this helps.

That is an interesting question. Most people wash the hair first and then put on the conditioner. A good conditioner should be left on the hair for a few minutes at least before rinsing it out. I find that I like to do a once a month deep conditioning where I leave the conditioner in my hair for 15 minutes. This really helps my hair to be soft, silky, and shiny.

I believe it will have to be the shampoo first to get rid of the dirt that get stuck in the hair then, the conditioner second to bring back the lost hair oils while shampooing.

You should always wash your hair with shampoo before using conditioner. Shampoo cleans your hair, and conditioner helps restore its moisture. If you use the conditioner first, and then the shampoo, you will pretty much wash the good effects of the conditioner right down the drain.
