Age isn't a issue on mylot. Do ou agree?

March 5, 2007 8:27pm CST
I've been a member of quite a few community's and forums. I noticed with most that certain users are stuck up when it comes to young people and I've only truly felt welcomed on two sites before this one. Mylots the first which I've noticed age doesn't matter to members and unlike myspace and other sites older members (I mean wiser) *Wink are friendly and enjoy keeping the younger mylotters interested in this place. Do you agree that mylot doesn't have a age issue? (please share your views) Thanks, ~Joey

I am new in this site and i am not really sure, one thing i can say is that i think age is not really an issue as long as you know what you are doing and what you are saying.

No age isn't and shouldn't be an issue in forums, unless of course the site itself puts a limit. I am one of the mature aged members here and at one time I used to belong to a forum where they had a "seniors" section and after a couple of visits realised that it was not for me. I have to say that my friends here on myLot range in ages from 17-79 and although there are times when I do not know what some of the younger generation are talking about in their discussions, I either ignore those (discussions) or see what I can find out about the subject. The truth of the matter is that the young in age can learn from the mature aged members and vice versa, and the same applied in the real world as well. The young bring their youth and vitality, which can invigorate the mature members. At the same time, the mature members can share their knowledge and experience, which I might add does not necessarily translate into wisdom though we would like to think it does. LOL In all areas of life, both the real and cyber worlds, there will always be people who think that they know more, have more to offer, are more important than others. That is regardless of age, colour, race, creed or age but I tend to ignore that. I can have a very interesting conversation talking to a 10 year old and at the same time enjoy the company of others who are in their 70's and 80's and anywhere in between the two. I am one of those people who are willing to pass on their experience and knowledge but will also listen/read to what others have to say, regardless of their age. I think that the majority of members here are the same, although there might be one or two exceptions. However with a membership base of 76,000+ members there will always be some who hold different opinions. The only other thing I can say, is just continue being yourself and you will do fine both here on myLot and in life. Respect all members, regardless of their age, join in their discussions and say share your opinions and thoughts on the subjects that appeal to you. :)

I agree! I'm 17 and everytime I mention in a response my age, I've never been put down for it and this site makes me feel comfortable. It's great knowing I can come post on a website, be rewarded for it and know if I need any help regarding the site, there's people there to help me, and there's people who aren't going to disregard my discussions or responses because of a silly number.

One thing i would like to tell that its never too late to start a good deal.So why age be considered for my lot. Age is no bar for mylot. Any one can join my lot and why should he/she feel guilt in doing so. its a good deal so why stop at any stage or age.

It seems to me as well that age is not an issue here on myLot either. It seems like most of us get along very well, regardless of our age. Every now and then I may see a problem arising but not very often. I have no problems with people of any age as I look forward to hearing opinions from all people. I think the younger people have just as much knowledge as the older people and have different experiences to share with the community here.

yeah, i do believe that age isn't a factor here in mylot. as long as you can give a comment or an advice, you're treasured or appreciated by others regardless of your age.

I am totally agree with you. In my opinion, in the internet, there is no boundary for ages, no matter you are a kid or a elderly, who cares! Just if you can post some good posts, members here in mylot would like to response to your topic, that is not a matter of age, right? What do others think?

I have never felt that age has been an issue here. Although, our age IS public knowledge here, and if it werent, than it COULD NOT be an issue. Mylot is mostly a friendly place. Aside from the referral link postings, I rather enjoy it.

I do agree. It's one thing that i noticed and made me feel good to be here. I also noticed that - with some exceptions - younger posters are doing a great job and starting interesting discussions - which is usually what happens when younger people are allowed to actually express themselves without the risk of being patronized.

The Age thing is just another reason why I love Mylot so much. There are people here from all age groups, from all walks of life, from all over the world. Seeing them all come together to one place to join in discussions and give advice and support to those in need is wonderful. I am a member of the Ordsall Hall ghostcam forum, and I haven't logged in there in ages. People started getting snotty with some of the other members and it led to people falling out and taking sides and everything else. It just wasn't right, and rather than get involved, I left. It's nice to see that that kind of thing is much less common here at Mylot.

I also agree with you Joey, age doesn't really matter here as long as you can give some profound knowledge and ideas you are welcome here...In addition, the quality of the discussion is the basis here and not the age...right???

I sure hope there is no age issue. The young have much to offer about the world as it is happening today. And us MORE EXPERIENCED(notice I never said older)myloters have more years behind us and as result have experienced a lot of things that perhaps younger people have not. It only makes sense that whatever a persons age, we should always be passing the knowledge we have onto someone younger. Just as young parents pass knowledge on to their kids.

Yes I do agree that mylot is very friendly you do get the odd ones on here but apart from that it is just great. This is the only Site I go on, I have seen so many other Sites but I do not join them as I am very weary of Sites like that. But this one I do love and I love my Friends here they are just great.

I agree joey. I have seen the opinions of 16 year olds coupoled with the opinions of older adults here on mylot. No one seems to be ostracised due to their age. That is what makes for good discussion in my opinion, hearing the viewpoints of each generation. I feel that each generation has valuable input on issues. We tend to approach issues in a different manner, and therby learn and grow from hearing the viewpoints of each other!

Yes. Definitely mylot doesnt have an age issue because if it has, then you can't see any teenagers around with age ranging from 16 and above+. It can be a factor since some topics/discussions here are what we call "requires parental guidance" but i think its just for the member to react to the discussion. And besides, you can really learn a lot here in mylot. Definitely agree! : )

I think so. I never heard anyone making member's age an issue. Unless some people think some adult contents on mylot shouldn't be viewed by members under 18 and that we don't know if everyone is honest about their age. I personally just come here to make friends and earn pocket money plus get some IT tips.
