My dell desktop computer doesn't have a firewire port. How easy would it be to install an extra port for a firewire in my computer? I'm really afraid to mess with it. We only wanted a firewire port to upload videos to our computer from our camcorder. Thanks for all your help!1

Recently i found USB and Firewire combobay, and you only need to have Hi-Speed USB port, and its absolutely handy. You wont need to disassemble your computer. But my question is where do you live?

I can say alot could be found within your neighbourhood, just ask the computer shop whether they have it or not.

there are PCI cards available if you cant find a usb firewire. you'll just have to open up your computer to install a firewire PCI card.

There are external options such as an adapter etcetera, but the best option has always been a PCI card. The real benefit of fitting a card is that it then becomes a fixed feature of your system. If you have reservations about opening up the computer tower, simply ask if any of your friends are accustomed to doing so. It is a very simple proceedure and can be done by anyone without previous experience. Full instructions are also supplied along with the PCI card itself.
