when i go to the bus with my cousins and aunt, we see a lot of old people in coming in the bus being full. when we go in, we usually have like the perfect amount of seats for us but when there are old people who come in and theres no seats available, my cousin and i look at each other and offer our seat to them. they say thank you to us and have a seat.

hi friend, thank you for being such a good samaritan despite the high technology nowadays. a sincere thank you from the oldies is enough, right? and we feel proud for ourselves then since not all people will do the same. kudos to u and ur cousin. :)

I would give up my seat to and older person, out of respect. Usually men only if they really really old or in poor health will not accept but I always offer. I would also give up for an expectant mother or handicapped person of any age.

hi faith, you were such a good person too. I was also doing the same so we are both kindhearted:) hehe. Honestly , the reason i asked is sometimes more guys are pretending they are sleeping when the older peson is in their front.. hope i was wrong but to someit up, indeed there are a few kind people still living in this world. thanks!

I have done it often but the thing that bugs me is when I get up for an elderly person and some young person rushes to sit down, so I usually wait for the elderly person to be near to me so I can ask them or I call for them to ask them so that it doesn't happen, pregnant women also. Sometimes I do not but that is when I am real tired or not feeling well, but even then I have done it a few times.

more points to a kind of people like you. based on the replies, still there are kindhearted people nowadays. I thought due to new technologies and all, those good traits was also gone. thank you for the response.

yes, i would gladly give my seat to old people because i think they should be respected and taken care of by the younger citizens. i grew up with no grandfather and i really wanted the chance to have a grandfather or grandmother to take care of. :)

I would certainly give way to such person if am into a bus or MRT. Because I could not stand seeing them like that besides i would be scolded by my grandmother if she finds out I didnt help those people. I could not stand it because I don't want it to be happen to my grandmother as well.

I would do anything in the world for the elderly. I feel so sorry for alot of them. they have through things in life that alot of us can only imagine if possible. I feel they have been through alot and need to be papmpered when they get older. Things should get easier for them instead of harder. I have always been fond of the elderly and have always gone out of my way for them. I can't stand to see an elderly person mistreated by anyone.

well why not. i always do that coz i feel its they who need a seat, doesnt matter i am tired or not. many a times i helped those people board a bus safely and see that they get a seat. its a humble gesture of care they deserve and as an energetic citizen it is a duty.

I used to be a really good dude and give up my seat. But nowadays, I find myself getting REJECTED more often than not. Yes! The elderly will say no, they want to stand! So it's rather embarrassing of sort to get rejected in the face.
But there is the occasional case where the person would accept the offer. So I sort of alternate between the 2. Sometimes I offer, sometimes I can't be bothered to get embarrassed. :P

hi, hahaha. that's a different thing for me. majority of the older people would accept the offer. but you are right, due to your experience you tend to think first because it might get you embarassed again. thank you for responding :)

i think it's just right to give up seats to the elderly. it is tiring for them to stand even for just a while, not to mention that they have to try to balance themselves when the bus moves off. i usually will ask the younger person to give up their seats whenever i see a situation where some pretend not to see the old man/woman. imagine when people do that to your elderly parents or yourself when you get old...how would you feel? just my 2cts worth :)

I used to move or stand for an older person or a women with packages or kids, but now I am the older person, I need a cane due to injuries to my leg. I am temporarily disabled and can't stand for too long at a time. I'll stand if I have to but will pay the price later.

Yes, I did giving my seat if there's an old man/woman standing in front of me, I can't stand seeing them coz I know how hard for them to stand for how many minutes. But as a young one I can stand all the entire trip...

Yes, I will. I notice that they want to stand and don't want to sit. I guess it depends on the person, right? Some people will sit others won't. It has happened to me and I don't mind if they take my sit, really. To be honest, I would give it to almost anyone older than me, they don't have to be like a senior. I feel it is the right thing to do. Have a nice day.

When I see an old man/woman or pregnant woman o a bus, I'll definitely offer my seat to them without thnking twice. But sometimes I amazed with how many people that won't take my seat I offered. They don't like being consider as an old, weak woman/man unless they have health problems, of course. But either way....I will still offer them my seat, regardless they will take it or leave it...

I often give my seat on a bus if there is an old man or woman stands in front of me.
Once, I dont do like that because of my broken shoes. Now, i still feel very embarrassed. Someday ,i went to a company dressed with a pair of high-heeled shoes. When i got off the bus,i slipped down, one heel dropped from my shoe.I have to buy a new ones ,but i have not enough money, so i decided to go back. Then i got up a bus, and sat down. After two stands passed ,an old lady got up and standed by myself.i was ready to stand up, then i remembered my broken shoe, i sat down again. After a few minutes ,the old lady said to herself that the young was too unpolite.i knew what she mean. I was very angry. Then another woman said directly to me that i should give my seat to that old lady. i said to her angrily that it was my seat now. Then all of people on the bus began to discuss.
We should respect old people, but it is not duty in any conditon. Some old people should respect themselves firstly.

Sure. I always do. It is my nature to give preference
to old people, especially women. I always feel fine
the moment I can help them ease their trouble from
standing for lenghty period of time inside public
transport.
