For me it has to be Alan Shearer. He was the reason I started to support Newcastle United in the first place. Well, I could have supported Manchester United if he had gone there (*shudder*). A well-respected captain of the national team, he topped the scoresheet at Euro '96, when England qualified to the semi finals only to be beaten by eventual winners Germany on penalties. He was also named in UEFA Team of the Tournament along with David Seaman and Steve McManaman.
He has scored 422 goals in hi career (club and international). That averages 25 goals a season. To me he is the best striker England has ever produced, and it will take a long while before someone as phenomenal will appear again.

Alan Shearer has definately been the best player for many years, you need to go back as far as Keegan to come anywhere close, just a real shame the guy has never won any silverware with Newcastle he really deserved it, at least he supported his home team instead of going for the glory and signing for Man United

Favourite ever? Alan Shearer.
Favourite current player? Charles N Zogbia but what has happened to him lately?
Why does Glenn Roeder not play him so much in the right position?
I think we will lose him in the summer if things don't change.
I also think Shay Given has been our best defence in what, lets be honest has been a very poor defence! One of the best keepers in the Premiership.

It is difficult to argue against Alan Shearer. However, a lot of his goals were penalties and he will also be remembered as a player who used his arms and elbows a lot of the time. Nobody has replaced him yet but if we can keep Owen and Martins then maybe they will become heroes at the club. I like to remember the Keegan era and players like Robert Lee, David Ginola and Andy Cole. It is also worth remembering Peter Beardsley who was an excellent servant to the club and will always be fondly remembered by the fans.

My current favourite is Emre - on a good day he is a bundle of energy and really troubles the opposition. However, he really needs to control his temper at times.
Another favourite is Nol Solano; it was great to have him come back to the Toon.
My all-time Newcastle favourite however, is Peter Beardsley - not only has he been great at Newcastle but he also does so much for young peple's football in our area.

Alan Shearer, of course man he is our best players for both blackburn rovers and newcastle united.... once the report mention he reject a offer to become a manchester united player but was sold to newcastle united because the offer given to blackburn rover was too hot to reject but still he in newcastle united as usual a excellent and superb player.
