why do clocks go clockwise instead of counter clockwise? why?

The direction is called "clock-wise" because it was coined from the way clocks move. So if clocks are moving anti-clockwise as we know it now, then clock-wise would become anti-clockwise, and vice versa.
If you are just talking about tweaking the clock physically, of course it can be done. Just ask a clock maker to make that special clock for you. :P
