Why is the world so mired in the mess?

To begin with, all the blood that has been spilled has swelled into an ocean of fear and loathing that sprung from lack of empathy with one another and thus diminishing our common humanity. All wars and conflicts and prejudices of all sorts are really rooted in our alienation from each other and an estrangement from the fact that "no man is an island." Indeed, the cliche holds true: "What the world needs now is love, sweet love." And, yes, all this grim facets of reality really stemmed from the fact that we take ourselves too bloody seriously. Common, considering the mess the world is in right now, shouldn't we learn to laugh at our foibles? How peaceful we'd all be if we just go out loud--not with the boom of guns and the thunder of outsized ego--with the lightning of our laughter?
