I am a 40 years old and been married since 1991, since then i am not working, has been a plain housewife and mother to my 3 kids all those years. Now,i wanted to find a job and it's hard for me,everytime i applied they are looking for a college graduate plus they prepare younger people. Why is it very important that u have a degree if actually even people like me can actually do the job.I know college degree is very important but there are jobs that actually don't need a diploma, anyone can do the job as long as you are fit and strong, so why is it that they don't hire people like me and give us the chance so we could have a better lives.I have heard in other countries, they still hired people even in their fifties but not here in the Philippines.Reason why there is so much poverty around here, government is not doing their job to better the lives of their people.I just hope they start looking this issue and giving jobs to jobless people like me.Anyone can tell me companies that give opportunities to people like me?Please help...

I know what you mean it is hard. I been back out for a year now and I love it. I lost my job but now I am trying to find another one and it is so hard. It is not like back in the 80s when you have a job after job. I have the skills but it is hard. Hang in there, you will get one. They have to give you a chance, that is all I ask is for them to give me a chance to show that you can do the job and they do train you their way. I would take you in if I had a job.

I know the problem you're facing. Back in Australia I was made redundant at 56, and although I have a degree couldn't get work because I was considered too old. I've been working in Thailand now for the past nine years and loving it. What you have to do is not to give up. I would apply for jobs that you consider suit you, even if they say they want a degree. The main issue about getting a job is first you have to get an interview. Then you have to sell yourself and your knowledge. Good luck, and keep trying and eventually you will suceed.
