What do you know about HYIP?

I've heard many times about people making big money in HYIP world, but I never met one in person. I think it's very hard to success in this field but some may success nonetheless. Please share your opinion or experience.

In my opinion, HYIP is just a nice, glorified name for lottery.
The majority of HYIP belongs to the category of scams. You may put in some money but when it's time for you to get out, you will encounter all kinds of trouble trying to withdraw your money.
This said, there are legitimate HYIPs around. But the majority of them fold up after a few months or years - so if you don't get out early enough, that's the last you are gonna see your money. The rare few keep on going after a long time - but still, chances still exist that they will fold up.
So, is this a kind of lottery or not? :P
