Why you hav to be COOL in college/uni Life?

i m current in uni right now and by experience i can say those who act smart and look cool rule the uni/college life. Why is it the person nature is ignored. I really had hard time makin friends and stuff. TO carry on alone is very hard. my question to u which i don't understand wht makes u cooler? help me out guys
