When is enough, enough.. should we continue giving medical care on people with a poor prognosis and if we should what should it be?

It would depend on the illness and the patient's choice. If the patient doesn't want additional medical care why force it on him/her. I have a friend that has gone through chemotherapy for cancer and now states he will never take chemotherapy again.
