I don't think it would pay. Not that I'm saying if she killed someone she shouldn't be punished, but why wait till now. It's been 30 years. She has already lived a large portion of her life. And if she did do it I'm sure she's had to live with that guilt everyday of her life. And how much money are they going to waste on convicting. Just to put her in prison. Could you tell me where to find out more info on this story?

I don't know the specifics about this case, but the law is very clear. In the US, murder is a felony and there it doesn't have any statue of limitations, so no matter if the murder happened yesterday or 100 years ago. That said, I think matters such as this should be considered by the judge to see if there are any extenuating circumstances and take it from there. This is NOT the first of it's kind of case, and the penalties have been from one extreme to the other (major time to basically no time).
