Do you feel you are getting old?

Let's be honest here. If you think you are getting old, wave both your hands madly in front of your screen. Did you just do what I said? If you did, you are indeed cranky. If you didn't, you are indeed old enough to be jaded. Got you there, didn't I? :P
As the world rushes past us, do you pause to feel the toil on your body? What was that which reminds you that you are again nearer to the end? Does it pain you to think about it?
Another brown spot on your skin? Another ache in your joints? Another strand of white hair? Another flip of the calender? Another tinge of nostalgia while looking at photos? Another drop of tear when your grandchild smiles? Another utility bill to bleed you dry? Another newspaper report of someone dead? Another.. another.. another. The signs never stop appearing, do they?
I worry about aging, the decaying and dying of my body. Strangely, I don't fear death. Yet, I fear wasting away.
How about you? Do you feel you are getting old? What reminds you of the mortality of humans? How do you deal with this aging condition that no one seems to escape from?

Really good post...i would personally say that getting old and feeling weared is really state of mind...i would like to make one point of suggestion to you regarding the way great individuals lead their lives..who are constantly on the pinnacle of success and have nevr say die spirit..i mean aging is concerned more with your mind and soul rather than physical appearances..they are trivial..i guess if u have new motive or keep on constantly urging urself ..i feel that u would be great individual..thats only difference between gr8 people and ordinary people like us ..they constantly keep on motivating themselves inspite of failures and other obstacles...easier said than does,,but thats harsh fact of life...

Thanks for thinking positively of my post. ;-)
I do agree with what you said - that youth or aging is quite a state of the mind. But still, when the signs are there and repeatedly coming back to haunt you...

What signs?
Oh... the ancient taboo... aging huh?
No worries for me, I don't read papers, no calendar, got plenty of painkillers, plenty of hair dyes, zipped up all my photos and forgot the password, no grandsons, utility bill... eh...
I don't age... I grow up :p

Well I am 70. In fact I'll be 71 in a few months time, but I don't feel old at all. Most of my friends are 30-50 and I spend a lot of time with teenagers and children.
I haven't been to the doctor since mine retired about twenty years ago. I haven't had a cold for about 40 years. I have no aches and pains, but I am getting a few wrinkles.
Age doesn't worry me. I LOVE my life.

Maybe - just maybe - it is because I eat so much ginger. I add fresh, minced ginger to absolutely everything. I'm a ginger freak. Apart from that, I'm just healthy and praise my loving heavenly Father for keeping me active enough to serve Him.

Where would I stand if I waved both my feet at you? I do not worry about aging. I only worry about the money I need to spend on problems that comes with aging. I am reminded of aging only when I get pains here and there when I least expect it, and it is disturbing as there is nothing I can do to it. Sleeping is one way I deal with aging, perhaps to avoid the reality. Babies sleep throughout, don't they :P

Yes, that was something I wanted to, but forgot to mention - the money needed for aging-related issues.
You forgot I have insomnia so I can't escape by sleeping. :P

Lol, I guess I am jaded then..lol, I am old by a childs perspective but my own I am not I don't feel old except on a few occasions. Everytime we turn the t.v. on and they are bombing and senseless killings and people dying before their time that can always make a person feel as though the end is closer to us all. One of these days we might all be wiped off never know when especially with all this warhead stuff going on and having bombs aimed at your country.. I am only 32 and I feel achy joints but I figure that is due to the weight I have on them. And you don't have to be old to have a utility bill to bleed you dry. I think I use less electric now then I did when I was younger. I do get emtional when I look back on how much the kids in my family have grown and the ones who have passed away. If I let my fear of old get to me then I would then be old not just in body but in soul and I am hoping that is awhile off from here riht now. Depression can make you feel old I know I have been there. And my excuse for not joining the living in doing things was I was to old. But I am feeling much better and younger right now. I guess when I start looking old I can start slapping on the wrinkle and firming cream maybe then I can be old, but look and feel younger. My mom always said I was older then my time because I acted older and carried myself older and everyone thought I was older so I broke that habit. ahhh old is as old does..

I am just getting out from a deep depression so I am trying to change but it is so easy to slip back into the comfort of depression and wallow in self pity tha is how it was for me. It is like a vaccum it keeps wanting to suck you back in to. And old avatar? Because it has the numbers 74 on it? that was the year I was born. Actually I got this avatar from my 16 year old niece. I was changing avatar every week when I first started but it confused me when others did it becuase I would search for their conversations using their avators and so I figured I was confusing them as well so I have just stuck with this one. I am waiting to lose more weight before I put one of me up so I won't scare anyone..lol

Well, I'm thankful I'm not cranky but jading is almost as bad... I don't think of myself that way. I know I'm getting older but I'm as young as I feel... still capable of going out and having fun with peeps of all ages, and still capable of staying most of the night, so I don't regard myself as old at all. No time to look for a brown spot, ache in my joints of white hair, and when my grandchildren smile, I smile and laugh with them.
Nope... certainly not getting old! Living my life as it comes.
Brightest Blessings.

Im just 28 and I already feel im getting old. When i was in college and stuff i never had to worry about anything. But now i feel as if my daily life is full of trying things - trying to make ends meet, trying to get my work done. When i was much younger i used to think i can get anything done but now that thought is slowly fading with the mundane things in life. I guess it is inevitable to grow old but lately it seems as if life is passing by at a speed far faster that i would have imagined.

I know I'm getting older, but I'm also getting wiser. I don't worry about anything except keeping myself fit enough to enjoy our retirement, which is coming up very soon.
I know I'm getting older, but I'm also enjoying each day I can wake up and still breath.

So you are saying it is true that wisdom comes with age? :P

Yes. I would say that. How could age not be accompanied by wisdom, unless someone is a complete idiot and refuses to learn as they age. That's the only thing that keeps me alive - learning from my mistakes.
Along with age - comes wisdom - with wisdom comes knowledge to age more gracefully. Don't you think?

Yes,I feel I'm getting old.I mean though my figure is still young but I do feel that my heart is getting older and older. That's bad!For me,growing up is a bitter-sweet process. Now,I debt that I cannot enjoy the fun I experienced when I was young.Sometimes I do feel that being mature is a really short process.Yesterday I was a carefree child but now I'm a mature adult. In Chinese,"mature" is a comfused word for people.I don't believe this word is bad but it's really upset when someone consider me as a mature adult.

There's nothing wrong with being mature - in fact this is more a good word than a bad one. :P
And you are just jaded. Most "young" people go through this phrase. Some remained stuck in it lol.

Yes,mature is a good word than a bad one.But sometimes it's really hard to accept it in my life:P
Well each coins has two side.During the growing process,we lost something but at the same time we gain much more.Getting old is not too bad, isn't it?

I guess this is a fact of life, in that yes I do feel like I am getting old because literally I am. But then again I suppose the saying goes that you are only as old as you feel, and by that measure I feel younger than i am. None of us can put off time, but we can enjoy as many moments as possible in what time we have.

The key word is "feel". If something is literal, you "see" it rather than feel it. So you see yourself growing old - but you may not "feel" the same way. :P

Well I'm certainly not worried about wasting away. I'd like to waste away some pounds. Yes I do feel I'm getting old. When someone asks me how old my daughter is and I have to say 34, I swallow hard. When I've been sitting more than 1/2 hour I can hear my bones creak and groan. When I get out of bed in the morning I nearl sieze up. And of course I have false teeth, grey hair coming in and it takes me twice as long to think about what to do then it used to take me to do the job. I am worried about dying but I know one thing for sure I'll live till I die LOL

I do sometimes feel like I'm getting old yes, and then I think about it and put my age into perspective....I'm only 23....that's not old at all, is it?
Honestly I think it's all a mental state of being. I've got a friend, same age as me, and I swear she was born old. She's had this "old" way of looking at the world ever since we were 11 years old.
Then again, I know people who are in their late 50s, who have "young" attitudes and are as sprightly as teenagers.
I think being a mother, in a way, makes me feel old, mostly because I'm the first of my friends to be married and have children....but on the other hand my daughter keeps me young. I play with her and I'm transported back to my own childhood games once again.
I think that getting old really is all in the mind :)

I have such a feeling of aging when I see more and more grey hair, which worried me most. The most hateful thing for me is my grey hair which drives me to have my hair dyed every month.
