Mindful eating if mindfulness is the road to spirituality, it's also the road to sensible eating. You can't be mindful of your food if you're distracted with other activities while you dine. If you watch TV while you eat, break the habit. It may be hard at first, but it's worth the effort. You'll be more aware of the flavors and textures you're
eating. You can remind yourself to slow down if you tend to eat too quickly. You'll certainly be quicker to notice when you're getting full. If breaking the TV (or reading or working) habit while you eat seems too difficult, make a game of it. Plan a few really fun, visually attractive meals. Make crostini with chopped tomatoes and basil. Roast a red pepper and add it to a pasta dish. Serve a dish that requires extra activity at the table, such as building fajitas or even simmering meat in broth in a fondue pot. Engage your hands and your brain. Enjoy the freedom to converse with a dining partner rather than staring at the tube or the newspaper. You'll enjoy the meal more and probably eat less if you allow yourself to be mindful of
your meal
2. Alternatives To Soda
Fast foods like burgers and fries may be time-savers, but the fat in them slows you down. Another diet downer that kills productivity: soda. The sugar and caffeine give you a burst of energy--for a little while. After that, it is downhill. The sugar buzz wears off, leaving you tired and dragging. Meanwhile, the caffeine acts as a diuretic,
leaving your body dehydrated. You get tired, you cannot think straight, and you may develop a headache. So, skip the soda and choose water lots of it instead. If you crave something a little more exciting to drink, try mixing orange juice and fizzy water. You will get a lower dose of sugar, a burst of vitamin C, and a lot of flavor without the caffeine without the nasty side effects.
3. Get Maximum Results
Has your workout routine become stagnant? Are you wandering the lonely deserts of a plateau? Well, fortunately there is a way to get back on the track to muscle and strength gains. Get back to basics by doing compound movements such as bench presses, squats, dumbbell rows, barbell curls and military presses. These exercises will build more muscle in less time. Many people run into problems by trying to refine muscle before it's even been built. Single-joint exercises, used for toning and refining, may give you a temporary pumped-up feeling but really leave you flat in the long run. If your goal is to get maximum results in the shortest amount of time, get back to basics.

Thanks for this! I certainly have a soda addiction, but have cut out soda immensely. I still enjoy a diet soda from time to time, but have been trying to drink more juices and water. I definitely agree with what you wrote about mindful eating. It is so easy to be distracted and just quickly eat, without really enjoying the meal or paying much attention to what it is we are even eating.

Thanks for this helpful health reminders, Kathy. well, am not really a soda fan, am more of a water buff... i'd often ask for a plain water if we dine out with my boyfriend or some friends. Well, maybe because am afraid to get too much sugar and take the risks of nurturing the diabetic genes that I might have (coz my dad is diabetic). That would surely get me into a whole lot of trouble, bigger than refusing a can or a glass of soda.
