What LUSH product surprised you?

For awhile, I wondered if anyone bothered to buy sandstone soap. I didn't think it smelled that great and I found it strange that only the top of the bar has the sand in it. Then I got some as a sample and gave it a try. It isn't my favorite product, but I was amazed to find out what a great job it does on my dry (and somewhat ashy) elbows. I just lather up with the smooth bottom of the bar and then flip it to scrub with the sand.
Has anyone else gotten a sample of a LUSH product that they never planned to try only to found out that it's really a pretty good (if not great) product?

For me it was Aquamarina. It's kind of an odd little product. It's this werid pink squishy roll, with seaweed wrapped up like some sort of sushi/jellyroll hybrid child. The smell...will it's distinctive to say the least (I actually don't mind it at all, but I know some people out there loathe it).
However, I'm always on the lookout for something to deal with my tepremental skin, so I htought, "what the heck" I'll give this weird looking thing a shot. Needless to say, it gently cleaned my skin, and helped with some of the redness. It's not nearly as drying as Fresh Farmacy, so it's a great winter cleanser. After finishing up my sample...which lasted for about 3 week. I bought a full tub....and after I finished that, I bought another ;-)

I second the Aqua Marina. I too thought it was just too weird. I was using Fresh Farmacy and it was making my skin worse, so I got a sample of Aqua Marina and I fell in love.

Interesting. I'll have to try aquamarina because I've noticed that Fresh Farmancy has been seriously drying out my skin this winter. I've been using a moisturizer to counter the dryness, but it sometimes leaves me skin feeling a bit greasy. Thanks for the reccomendation.

The jellies totally surprised me. I didn't think I would like them at all, and never bothered looking at them when I was in a store. However, I got a sample from mail order and I fell in love. It was sample of joy of jelly, a scent I love...I guess I've been hooked ever since.
I haven't tried sandstone soap yet, but I think I may ask for sample now based on your post.

I never ever planned on trying the powders. I just don't have good luck with powder. But I got a huge sample of Bare Naked Lady in a goodie bag and I'm in love. I put it in my sheets and I no longer wake up sweaty. I feel cool and fresh and it doesn't leave residue on my sheets. Amazing!
I don't like the sandstone. I can't seem to get the sand off my skin.

I love a dusting of silky underwear before bed! It's definately going to become a staple in the summer to help prevent sweaty sheets during the warm nights.

Silky Underwear is indeed great. I can use it in the summer and not need any extra moisturizer! Also, unlike my Snow on Snow, my boyfriend really likes the smell of this one so that I can sprinkle it on the sheets.

Years ago, I remember placing an order for Silky Underwear and Allelujah. I really wanted to like them. I just couldn't get into the scents of these dusting powders. Then last year I decided to give Silky Underwear another try.. and now I am hooked on it. I love sprinkling a bit on my sheets too.

I was surpised at how much I like the buttercreams. When I first heard of them I saw no need to buy them.. after all Lush already has some really nice soaps right? Now Lemslip and Almond Butter are staples for me. I love using Lemslip to wash my face (I alternate between fresh farmacy and lemslip). I love how Almond Butter is a "light" exfoliater (Buffy is a little too harsh for me). Plus, it smells really yummy.

I bought lemslip on a whim to sorta cool off in the summer. Also, I liked the idea of it helping me with spots on my back. The buttercreams are also really great for shaving too. I'll have to see how lemslip works on my face too.

I was surprised by the Sexy Peel soap.
I didn't like the scent at first in the Store, it seemed a bit ... well ... marmaladey lol.
However, my partner liked it and said he'd use it if I didn't so we bought a bar and brought it home.
Now I couldn't imagine using anything else! It doesn't smell as strong as it did in the store, and I've cut it into slices, use a slice at a time, and I find it lasts longer that way.
I store the pieces I'm not using in the fridge, and they keep their scent too. I'll definitely buy that again.

Same here, I got a free Sexy Peel soap through a promo back in November and I just didn't like the smell of it. I left it lying about for a few months and started using it just because I felt I had to and I was so surprised by how lovely it actually is! It has such a rich juicy scent and is just a complete pleasure to use.

Yeah, I knwo what you both mean. It's amazing how some LUSH products can smell completely different once you get it home or once you get it wet.

Sympathy for the Skin and Coconut and Almond Smoothie.
The first because it didn't smell that strong in the shop and it didn't leap out at me, but after using a sample I was hooked. The little vanilla bits are just lovely and it's like vanilla ice cream moisturiser.
As for the Coconut and Almond Smoothie, it hardly smelled of anything and I didn't like coconut at all. However, it started to grow on me as it was such a subtle smell, not overpowering. For some reason now I can't get enough of coconut scented products!

I also got a sample of coconut and almond smoothy, and I loved it. It's amazing for shaving, a tiny bit is enough to lather and moisturize my legs really well, so I didn't even need lotion afterwards!

Hi, yes sandstone doesn't smell that good but it is very good for cleaning walls, as this is what we used it for when we renovated our home that we were doing the work on. Yes well I had tried many products for dandruff as it used to annoy me and when I would brush my hair it would fall all over the place so I tried one with tea tree oil in it and it went away and has never came back which to my surprise was a really great product I did not know it would work so well.

I'm taking me to a Lush store ASAP! My ex bought me the Rockstar soap a couple of years ago and I liked that, but I've never bought anything myself. I've never even been in a Lush store, although it smells divine whenever I walk past.

I originally discovered my precious angels on bare skin from a sample, I didn't really expect to fall in love with it! I was used to more liquid cleansers, but once I got used to it, I definately got addicted, it does such a good job of cleansing/exfoliating/leaving my skin delightfully soft all in one!
Similar thing happened with T for toes, I didn't think I'd like/need it, but once we tried a sample it was a definate wow reaction. I like it when I'm working all day or wearing hiking boots so my feet don't sweat, and it's definately improved hubby's smelly feet. And a little sprinkled in his shoes keeps the house smelling fresher too :)

I've tried a hand cream that is so good also for the dry skin around the nails.IT smells of lemon and karitè butter and it has also improved with its mositurizing potency the skin of my hands. The italian title of this cream is "Morbidissima" that means "too soft".This is the best hand cream that I've ever tried.

Coalface. It is my saviour! The SAs normally recommend it to those with more mature skins, but I got given a sample in store one day and tried it for a week. My skin feels visibly tighter after using it, and my blackheads have completely disappeared. I used to use AOBS, but now I exfoliate with Ocean Salt in the shower instead. I'll never give up my Coalface!

product?
I used to receive the LUSH Times in the mail every few months. This is a big newspaper-ish catalog of LUSH products. I've sat for hours and looked through it but never ordered anything. When we moved about a year and a half ago, I stopped receiving it in the mail and forgot about it. A friend had sent me half of her LUSH order about two years ago as a thank you, but I never got around to using the products. Then recently when a few girls around Epinions (they know who they are... they're evil, I tell you) placed big (OK...huge!) LUSH.com orders and then started to rave about the items they ordered, I knew it was finally time for me to try some LUSH products. LUSH Dream Cream is one of the products I ordered.

My big suprise was with aromacreme. I never thought a natural deodorant would work for me, and when I got a sample of aromaco, I was like BLECK! I thought it smelled horrid and then after that I was against trying any of them. When I got a sample of aromacreme I thought it smelled alrght, so I gave it a chance. Six hours later I picked my boyfriend up from work and he kept sniffing me and asking what perfume I was wearing. I couldn't figure it out, until I made him smell my pits! He loved it, and I didn't stink! It was certainly a suprise, and I got a full sized order of it the next time I went to the store.
