Do game show contestants get carried away with their emotions and behavior?

Do the contestants on some of these game shows drive you nuts with their antics? Sometimes I wonder how some of these people got chosen to be on the show. I think they get carried away and do some really silly things while on the show. Especially for me, Deal or No Deal has people who run around all over the place and act all crazy. Some of them get so stressed out and start crying on the show. Some of the things they say and do are very touching and thoughtful but some of the people I wonder about them. LOL

Hhehehe, that is the reason they are on the show my friend. They pick people like that, so we can have fun seeing them act that way. Or else it would be boring. Just like on the Jerry Springer show. Are those people normal? Have a good day dear. Feel good. Have fun.
Oh, I am still looking for the wall paper posting.

I do get a good laugh at many of them but if they keep doing the same thing over and over again, I get annoyed and bored. The show does need entertaining to along with the game itself. I am doing okay and just have to wait now to find out my blood sugar test results.

To be honest with you, I think that it's the crazy behavior that gets the person on the game show in the first place. With a game show like "Deal or No Deal" they have to bring some entertaining people on the show considering how simple that particular game show really is. I don't think I've ever seen a person acting sane on that show and it could potentially get boring really fast if the person was calm, atleast with a crazy person you never know what they're gonna do next and they keep you on the edge of your seat.

Some of the contestants are so funny. I heard thats how some of the shows pick them, the more outrages the better, it makes better tv. If we were on one of those shows who knows how you would react. I would hope I would act like a lady. But if I won lots of money, I imagine I would be jumping up and down, hootin and hollerin too.

I do get a good laugh at a lot of them but some get annoying the more they do something. I wonder where they came up with some of the stuff they do on tv. I would jump up and down and would probably go hug all the models. LOL That would be my excitement I think. LOL

I think your right, they do tend to go overboard with their feelings. Then again who knows how we'd act if we were on a game show to win big bucks either. They maybe never thought they'd act that way either until they actually got on there.

I definitely think that some of them go way overboard just to get attention from everyone watching the show. Some of them probably think they are comedians. LOL You are right about who knows how we would react. I would definitely be happy if I won a lot of money.

LOL I dont watch game shows but I remember when my Granddad was alive. He would never miss the price is right. I was visiting hime many times when it was on and you had to be totally silent till it was off. LOL Those people would jump and shake all over. LOL
They had to be told to be that energetic befor hand because nobody does that naturally. lol

I agree with you. Maybe the hosts pay extra for people to behave that way. Otherwise, where do they come from? I've never met such stupid acting people in my whole life so I figure it has to be put on for the cameras. But why? I don't see any point in it. It certainly doesn't make the show any more interesting to watch.

From reading everyones comments so far, I do agree that they chose these people because of their personalities and their creative videos that they sent in. Some I certainly understand but not all of them. Some are funny to watch and others get quite annoying after a while.

i think they got carried away, and emotion takes over them.
it is so hard to be a contestant, all the stress and expectations.
well it can happen to everyone.

Yes I know where you are coming from but I will say this. I am from Canada and recently Deal or No Deal did some shows up here. Howie is Canadian!! Anyways they had an application for people to fill out which took over 3 hours. Then people got called and they only really wanted the interesting people. They don't want the average boring folks.
Another example of this was this past weekend. We have a Canadian Idol (like American Idol) and they came to our city to do auditions. This girl I know who is really good got through the first two rounds of judging and then the 3rd round they said she wasn't interesting or entertaining enough.
So I think it goes to show that the producers are not always looking for the best. There has to be some personality and some interests there.

I just wonder if perhaps they are coached to do those things while on the show. It does make for better tv!!! Or maybe they are just crazy people. My husband likes to watch Wheel of Fortune. Some of the people on that show just go crazy.

Yes, I wonder about people sometimes. Things like Jeopardy are a bit more subdued, but others are quite wild. The Price is Right is the one I'm most familiar with, although Show Me the Money I saw a few outrageous antics. I almost think that those type of game shows are looking particularly for those overreactive types. Me, I would (at least, I think I would) be so calm I would probably bore all the viewers.:)
My $0.02 at the moment.

I think they are most likely coached to put on a show for the viewing audience.
Thats how these shows keep people interested and keep the excitement level pumped up.

Well in Australia the contestants do not get carried away, I do not know how they are run in other countries but they are screened before they are allowed to go on any of our game shows. Oh no in here in regards to Deal or No Deal they are not allowed to run around.

I agree-- I think the show producers or whoever picks the contestants looks for the craziest ones. Although I'm pretty normal-- but I was selected for Deal or No Deal-- I can't say I wouldn't be running around too.. Acting all silly.. It has to be pretty emotional. I have always said I'd probably be the one who took the deal on the first offer. Either that or I'd be so greedy that I'd lose it all!
But yes I do think alot of these contestants are great actors!

I used to watch game shows all the time and one of the reasons why I stopped watching most of them is because of the way the contestents act-especially the women.I know they are excited but they really need some decorum.Ican understand them being a little rammy but when they keep screaming at the top of their lungs over and over ,or running and jumping all over the place and knocking into the host, that is way out of line.Sometimes I wonder if they are really that excited or just showing off beause the camera is on them

I've heard that's one of the ways they look for contestants. At least for Wheel of Fortune they have that van/bus that goes around looking for contestants. They said one thing they look for is people to be wild and loud. They don't want someone that is just going to play the game, they want them to play and put all of their emotions into it.
Jeopardy seems like the only show that would want plain boring people. But that's because they are a more serious show with trivia and not so much "fun."
I guess I'll never be on a game show then, lol.
