I am generally quite a nervous person ( to everyone else I come across as chatty and confident ) but the one place I can truly relax is when I am driving , I passed my driving test first time when I was almost 50 years old , I wont to into it but there is a lot of stress in my life at the moment and when I get really worked up we go out for a drive , When hubby was in Glasgow having his bypass operation I had to drive through a very busy part of Glasgow twice a day There were 5 lines and they were nose to tail for miles yet I was so relaxed I could not believe it , Are you relaxed when the roads are busy ?

I love driving too Gabs. I drive to many places all over Queensland and right down to the southern coast of Australia. I can easily drive for 12 hours without getting tired.

Actually being behind the wheel makes me very relaxed, I actually find driving relaxing and believe it or not therapeutic! I am extremely calm, I never let anything or anyone stress me. If someone cuts me up, I don't honk my horn in retaliation, what's the point? Why get stressed, what does it achieve? It only leads to road rage and that can lead to dangerous driving which puts not only yours or his/hers but other's lives at risk. I have only driven through my nearest city of London once, it was stressful but it gave me good experience at driving and busy traffic.

I am generally relaxed behind the wheel, unless it is freezing rain or snowing. I am not much of a metro driver, but if I know where I am and where I am going, I am fairly relaxed.

I'm not as relaxed as you. But it doesn't completely stress me out when the roads are busy. But if it gets really bad, I chew bubble gum to relieve my stress. My hubby laughs at me, because the more stressed I get, the faster I chew the gum. Needless to say, on long trips, I bring along about 10 packs of gum! LOL

well, ive been experienced driving before for 2 year and its really enjoy especailly when you go to ither palces you dont know during the time im alone or sad......but i dont like able to drive if the roads are busy...because you wasting your time staying in one place.. you can go anywhere, when the roads are free....thats only my opinion..but always remember be careful..

I used to be and I loved driving, especially long distances, but not anymore. I have moved to Europe and streets there are very narrow and their driving rules are different too. Now I rather take a bus and let my husband do the driving!

I love to drive! I am very relaxed unless I have my husband in the car with me. Oh well. I just love driving. I am not too agressive of a driver and tend to be relaxed most of the time. My son used to love driving just for the joy of it. Now we only have one car and I am not allowed to drive it at all. LOL

I enjoy driving but these days I ache so much that it's getting harder and harderto go places . But on the whole I'm a very relaxed driver. I also like to travel fast but living in the country most roads are 100klms anyway so that's ok. Sitting in traffic doesn't bother me unless my poor old car starts to overheat. Living way out here I rarely get to sit in traffic which come to think of it is one of the reasons I enjoy living here so much. Not only no traffic but no smog or people either...the rat race can stay where it is thanks.

Well, I haven´t driven in about 6 years, but before that, back when I had a car, I was a pretty nervous driver. I lived on a very hilly, curvy island, with lots of drop-offs, so maybe that´s why. :)

It's a good question this one. I do enjoy driving but hate sitting idle in traffic. I enjoy driving long distances but very rarely need to. I passed my driving test when I was 17 back in 1984 and have always felt that I'm a very safe driver and have been told by others the same thing (I've even attended advanced driving lessons in the past out of choice). I like to listen to the radio and I think the more chilled out the musis is the more chilled out I am. I can sing at the top of my voice along to songs and feel very relaxed (and it's a good job the windows are shut or I'd get arrested for disturbing the peace) but if I listen to faster music I tend to feel more impatient. I guess the solution is obvious - I should just stay tuned into a radio station which plays soft music hehe! Nice discussion, enjoyed anwering it! x

As long as I am not in a hurry I don't mind a little traffic so you could say that I am generally relaxed.

AHHH! No I HATE driving. All my friends know better than to ask me for a ride unless it is absolutely needed. I'm not a bad driver, I just hate doing it. Some much can go wrong and it doesn't even have to be your fault. I do like driving the backroads though. SO quite and surrounded by nature...yea I could do that! =)

I'm quite relaxed when I am driving. I only get impatient when there is a traffic hold-up. Maybe as people age more, they tend to become nervous at the wheel.

Not if I'm on the freeway or in a place I'm not familiar with or driving at night. I have severe driving anxiety at times like that.

My favorite place to be is behind the wheel of a car. I get very relaxed and love the interstate system where we can drive 75 miles an hour, or in my case 85 miles an hour. Once I get used to a car it becomes an extention of myself and I drive it fast and well on highways and the interstate. I have been lucky and not got a speeding ticket recently. I used to get them all the time right after I got my driver's license cause I loved to drive fast and had a Ford Mustang to drive as my first car.

I don't actually drive. I wanted to at one time, but then we moved to Vancouver, BC, and without insulting anyone else who lives here, there are so many people that just don't know how to drive. My partner drives for a living when film work is slow, and he comes home every day with fresh horror stories, then he wonders why I'm so against the idea of learning to drive. I'm guessing at some point that I'll have no choice but to Learn. Public transport isn't the best here and so you really need a car to get around. Hopefully I can do that without killing myself and my partner in the process LOL.

I sure am relax when the roads are busy - when I am on top of the wheels, not directly behind that wheel near the dash box. The only times when I was really relax was when I was learning driving years ago. I really feel safe with the instructor beside me, who will be busily looking out for traffic every minute I am on the road. Once, I get my driving license, things are different. The longer I got my license, the less relax I feel behind the wheel. At times, I have phobia even sitting beside the driver. Somehow I have caught the habit of my instructor :P

I will always want go at top speeds on my wheels. But when the roads are busy i get irritated with whom ever i see on the road at that time. Then i will control myself by counting the numbers starting from one...
