Flexibility is a joint’s ability to move freely through a full and normal range of motion. Factors that affect flexibility include: genetic inheritance, the joint structure itself, connective tissue elasticity within muscles, tendons or skin surrounding a joint, strength of opposing muscle groups, body type, age, activity level and gender. There are various ways to increase flexibility including: Static Stretching Strength Training Isometric Stretching Forced Relaxation Yoga The most practical way to increase flexibility is to get stronger. Typically a stronger muscle does not have to contract as hard as a weaker one to exert the same amount of force and it more willingly relaxes into a stretch When To Stretch The best time to do it is after you’ve warmed up with 10-20 minutes of cardio or light weight lifting, between strength training sets, or at the end of your workout. Stretching before warming up could lead to injuries and has no real benefit.

Stretching exercises, but not just your arms or legs. Your back, your abs...Really, the best thing to try is yoga for beginners. It's easy, and does a whole lot of stretching. You don't have to be in uncomfortable positions or tights to use yoga for your own benefit.

Hi I'm Toya I do quite a lot of dancing and keep fit. There are so many exercises and ways to increase your flexibility. It depends how flexible you are. If you're a total beginner or more advanced. Different ways? Stretching exercises for all parts of your body so you exercise all the muscles. - touching toes, side stretches with your arms, hands on your hips and try to circle your top half round, 1 foot in front of other quite far away from your body and bend the front long at the knee, keep the back leg straight and push down gently, you could hold on to the wall for this...the list is so many!! But you have to warm up first. Dancing is a good way if you go clubbing because you don't think about it. Using a gym ball - you know the large ones they use in classes. Swimming is good because it helps aswell without thinking about it. Write back and let me know more, maybe i could think of some exercises you could do.
