Has anyone been on a Glass Bottom Boat ride before?

Glass Bottom Boat - Here is a picture that I took while on a Glass Bottom boat ride in Mexico. It is not very clear but there is a diver there feeding some of the fish. I saw all sorts of different fish under the glass.

Is there anyone that has ridden a glass bottom boat here that would like to share their experiences? What did you like or not like about it? I have been on a glass bottom boat ride once and it was several years ago while in Acapulco, Mexico and I thought it was so neat to watch the fish swim around underneath us through the glass bottom. We also got to see a diver feed the fish. It was just a great experience seeing the fish up close like that and seeing them be fed. Do you have plans on going on a glass bottom boat ride?

I went on a glass bottom boat with my husband on our honeymoon many years ago. We went to Cairns in Queensland (australia) and it was amazing seeing all the coral and sealife without having to get wet!

I have been on one, one time in Mexico too. It was a fabulous experience to see all those fish underneath through the boat. When they fed them, thousands upon thousands would gather. It was very cool. Thanks for the memories of it, I had forgoten it. I am giving you another + rating for your great posting.

That is neat that both of our experiences on a glass bottom boat were in Mexico. I too noticed how the fish swarmed toward the food and the diver. You are welcome for the memory and you get a plus for responding. :-)

I will most definitely look this up as I hope to go on some more glass bottom boat rides and see the fish up close under the glass bottom. I have not been to the Keys as of yet but will have to make a visit at some point.

I was on a glass bottom boat while in Florida when I was a kid. It was so cool! We got to see all the fish and the diver that was going down and getting sea sponges. I don't remember exactly where it was but it was close to a Greek Restaurant.

Dolphin - When we rode on a glass walled submarine like boat which submerged in the water, we saw schools of fish, including some dolphins swimming leisurely around.
When we were on tour to Australia, my wife and I rode on a submarine like boat. It has glass walls. As the boat submerged into the water, through the transparent walls, we can see the colorful fish swimming around us. The view was awesome. After that We put on diving suits and with the help of a diving specialist we plunged into the deep water world. There we touched the rocks, the fish and some other sea creatures. The feeling was tremendous.

Yes. I had the opportunity when my family and me were in Thailand, Puket. It is a normal boat, with a clear glass bottom. I am not sure whether it is magnified. You will be able to see the marine live below, especially the corals, fishes. However, the water must be clear to enjoy the view.

That is a very good point about the water needing to be clear to enjoy the view of the fish, corals and plants. It is not fun looking at dirty water. I bet the view there was very nice and probably different than other places.

I have never done that, but I have always dreamed about it. I remember way back when there was a movie about a glass bottom boat. Since then I have wanted to ride in one, maybe someday.

Hi there! Yes indeed, hubby and I went on a glass bottom boat on a holiday in Kenya a long time ago. It was absolutely fascinating to see all the fish in the lovely clear water. You could actually go snorkelling too, I didn't but hubby did and was going to touch a Lion Fish, but the guide quickly pulled him away as this kind of fish is poisonous. It was a great holiday and a great experience. lol

That is something that I forgot about mentioning on my glass bottom boat ride as you could go snorkeling as well on this ride. I did not do the snorkeling part as I stayed on the boat and looked at the fish below. Glad that your husband got pulled away by the guide. I know that had to be scary for both of you.

yes, I was vacationing in Florida and got to ride in a glass bottom boat through some of the swamps. It was so very fascinating....yes, they had people feeding the fish, and some how they had lit the plants under the water level too which created some beautiful shots/sites.

That sounds very nice as well. What part of Florida did you take this ride? It had to be neat seeing the plants as well as the fish underwater.

You should definitely try a glass bottom boat ride as it is a wonderful experience. You can probably find one down there in Florida. It is very neat seeing the fish under the glass and being fed by a diver and seeing everything else below.

I have been on a glass bottom boat ride and it was great, I loved it! I was about 13 and my family went to Australia as my dad is from there and we went on a glass bottom boat ride. We got to the Great Berrier Reef, got in the boat and saw all kinds of things. We saw fish, coral, sting rays, and all kinds of things. I hope one day I can take my daughter. It was an experience I will never forget.

Yes, I took my sons on one in the south of France. We were staying in Juan Les Pins so it would have been one of the boats out of there. We got to see fish, jellyfish, and also some spectacular homes on the shore.

Yes!! I went on one in Hawaii last year on vacation. It was really neat. I was a little disappointed because we actually had bought tickets ahead of time to go on a little mini submarine ride. It was to take us to a tip of the island southwest of where we were staying, where we would attend a luau!! But when we went there to board the submarine, it had been canceled because the submarine was broke down!! I was glad it didn't break down with us on it, but I was still disappointed. We didn't get to go to a Luau that night, but we did get to go on a glass bottom boat...and it was neat.... We ended up going to a different luau the next night...and that was fun too!! I loved the dancers and the music. There was a guy that could eat swords with fire on them, and throw them up in the air and everything...It was really neat!! Oh, and I didn't like poi!! Yuk!!

I've never been on a glass bottomed boat before, although I've wanted to do it for a long time. Maybe we could find somewhere to do it when we do our road trip down the Californian coast. I love fish and all things to do with nature, so this would be the perfect experience for me - apart from swimming with Sharks. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.

I've never have been on one...I think it would be so cool to do it but then again my fear would take over and my anxiety would kick in. I'm deathly afraid of sharks and what is in the ocean. I would probably start thinking about what if the glass broke...haha

When I was young I had an opportunity to ride in a glass bottomed boat, in Hikkaduwa corral gardens in Sri Lanka. It really was an amazing experience I had with my familly members. Still the time we chose for the ride was not verry good. It was not even 8.30 a.m when we started the tour. Sea had relatively larger waves. Still the corrals and different varieties of fish were quite obvious, at a nice corral garden as that. I am strongly waiting to go on another glass bottomed boat trip soon, as I was unable to get the fullest out of it at the last one.
