I am not sure if I am upset by his being traded to the Jets. I know we have Cedric Benson and A.J. Peterson, but Thomas was just coming in to his own. He has had 2 really good years, behind a great offensive line. I hope they get a good draft choic for him
Do you think it will hurt their chances of having another great year next year?

I am not sure what to think about all of this. Their are some reasons to think this has a good and a bad side.
First of all, Thomas Jones is turning 31 this year. So he's not young and running backs rarely stay effective in the league past maybe 33 years. Cedric Benson and Adrian Peterson are both young, and have great running talents.
In the few times we saw Adrian run last year, I thought he was an effective back. He is tough and he can move, maybe he will turn into another Thomas Jones?
The problem is this I think. Thomas Jones is the biggest reason why the Bears made it to the playoffs two years ago, and he was one of the biggest factors in last years season. He was just great, and he probably would have had more touchdowns and yards if it weren't for Cedric Benson cutting into his productivity (especially at the end of the year).
While Cedric Benson is not what Thomas is, he is not a finesse back. He is a bruiser who looks for the hard hit, Cedric is their to pick up the tough yards. This being so is the reason why I think Cedric will become more injury prone though out his career. If you're always the bruiser, you can't help but to get hurt. Therefor I don't think Cedric is the best option to replace Thomas Jones, but only time will tell.

Hey there.
I agree about Cedric being injury prone. Maybe he will surprise us, though. He definitely needs to strengthen up his legs. If he can stay injury free, he will be a pretty good back.
I love Adrian Petersen. I was hoping he would have gotten a bit more playing time last year. He is superb on special teams and usually good things happen when he touches the ball.
There is always the draft. Maybe the bears will find some sleeper of a pick that brings it to the field. Wouldn't that be nice. Another one like #23 :)

Benson stayed healthy while at Texas and running with the same style. I believe that he is not necessarily injury prone, but suffered some minor injuries all running backs do including Thomas Jones who could never stay healthy his first few season. I liked how Benson hit the hole hard and did not dance around. He also showed that he also has some speed as he had several decent long runs. I was always puzzled as to why the media kept saying how good of a blocker Thomas Jones was. It seemed like every game he was allowing someone to come free and put a whooping on Rex. I saw him flat out whiff on a couple of blocks towards the end of the season.
