Its is just sharing of opinion and ideas...There is no wrong or right answer...
In my opinion, yes we need some special preparation...Some people just taking for granted going to church. In my observation, most of the church goers here in our place always came late..why is it so??? why does in attending party or other agendas we spend a days, a week or even a month to for preparation. But in going to church we just go there anytime we want to. And some are not aware to their attires...
you what is your side????

first i am pagan... but that is besides the point for what im about to say.
church is where god is, all around but for those that would like the formality of church, i think it depends on the local congration. if yours is a bit more layed back then a clean t-shirt and jeans is fine. if yours is a bit more traditional then by all means press the skirt! most churches now days are pretty well mixed. even by age you can see an atire difference. so long as personal hygine is paid attention to it shouldnt be an issue.
what about the bums that go to church? they go because everybody has a right to religion. it is wonderful if the church tries to help them (some are proud and thus dont want it) but i dont think any should be refused services.

I think it's important to prepare for church too. If we dress up for our friends and go to functions on time, I don't see why we should not show that kind of respect, if not more, to God. I know some people who say..God don't care, he only sees what is in the heart, etc. But I think what is in the heart is also reflected in the outward actions of a person. So, if a person comes late, dresses shabbily, etc..I just feel that person is not showing enough respect and love to God.

it is just because they don't see the real meaning of the church, what's inside it and what is it in their life. you see, the church is a symbol of God in every aspect. we just need an hour to prepare and an hour to attend mass. that's it. and it is even just once a week. and well, they take it for granted because priests and nuns never go to scold everybody house to house act that they need to go attend mass or to church. one more thing, it is our obligation, each one of us to go to church with proper attire, with the intention to talk to God and have peace in both our minds and hearts.

I believe we should represent God in going to church, like being clean and neat. I don't believe you have to wear a fancy dress or anything like that. I wear slacks myself. But dress slacks.I try and look nice. If poeple are going to church just for a form and a fashion instead of worshipping God. Then in opinion they should just stay home.

I think it should take a certain amount of preperation. I am not one of those people who tend to spend alot of time on myself or fashion. I am a simple girl. Simple hair, simple makeup, simple and comfortable clothes. I do make sure that I wear my best clothes to go to church and I have only showed up a few minutes late once (but that had to do with my daughter throwing up on me as we were leaving).

First of all we don't need any peparation but we need a peace of mind to go to church.
People who come late..are the one's who come just for the sake of coming..or for their elders sake..
The reason is that they don't have the interest or any love for the lord.
It's human that..we love to live good ..having good times..so we love to live on parties..vacations..
And about me..
I don't say i'm a good child of the lord..
I go to church when ever i feel like going & i feel happy on that day
..not for anyone's sake..

church people take all special preparations just to give us a wonderful mass we can hear every week so i guess we should all pay respect and prepare for mass too like how we dress up. its not just a seminar or something, we face God here.

I think that your right. We need to make church more of a priority rather than last on our list. I mean if you show up to church late now and then thats fine, but every weeke. We need to make a better effort. As far as the attire, I don't think God really cares what you where. My church most people show up in blue jeans and tea shirts. Which is fine, just to come as you are.

I think getting ready on Sunday morning for church can be one of the hardest things to do all week. Everyone has usually been very busy over the weekend and they are tired. Everyone wakes up close to the same time and needs the same bathroom to get ready and if you dress up at all you need extra time to do so. Getting kids ready and keeping them clean until you get there is also a chore. lol
I think people should dress according to what their congregation does if possible. Some churches are more casual than others and some people don't have the money to buy expensive clothes. Mainly they should be clean and neat and I think God understands the rest.

I don't go to church, but when I am with someone who does and I have to go with them, I try and respect their places of worship, even though I don't respect the religion. I'll try and dress in a way that people won't be offended..like maybe not wearing my marilyn manson shirt xD
I don't think it needs a lot of preparation but you should try and not be messy :p

Going to church is spending time with God. And this time spent with Him deserves nothing but the best from us. So why not put more effort on it?! like we do in some other things. Its not a matter of "people sees you in church" but the fact that you need to give respect to God --being in His house.

Hi !!! You have very unique question, rather a matured one. In my opinion going to church does not need special preparation, as this is not a one time occassion unlike anniversaries, birthdays etc, etc, but the day you say that you can differentiate between good and the bad that is the time your inclination towards it. Since you are already in and have a mind set, you are already prepared.

To be honest I don't like going to mass, never have. I'm Catholic but just find going to mass an inconvenience and dull to be honest. I go when I'm home from college as my parents expect it, but apart from that I wouldn't go, and neither would my 3 sisters. Many of my friends also wouldn't go. I don't know what church attendance will be like in years to come.

If you read the bible it says that the church is within the believers. All that matters to god is that is that you believe. I think "getting ready" for church comes from pride and the keeping up with the Jones's idea.
