Are these paying to write sites all scams in the long run?

I know that it's fun to make a few cents or a few dollars for something you probably were going to do anyway for nothing. Do you ever think that these small amounts of money are just carrots to get material so someone else can get rich at our expense.
Does anyone on here know how much myLot makes? It might be a losing venture just to learn how to make money. It might be that someone is cashing in big time. What do you think? Is anybody responsible to the writers to demonstrate if the money is equitable?
