Changing of Pre Installed OS on HP Notebook Good or Bad?

when i bought HP notebook there was a pre intalled Operating System on it Microsoft XP home but I need change it into XP professional since I am using it on the Network and XP prof are more reliable in network. but the problem I encounter is that I need to disable the SATA function of my harddisk in order for me to install the professional version... Now the Question Is there is someone else know how to trouble shoot this problem...

that doesnot do any effect on a system
it all depends on you
one of my friend changed his os from xp to vista the day he purchased the laptop
but taking my advice i would not guide you to do that because after that you are really gonna have problems with your drivers.
what i really feel is to keep what you got originally i changed my os and now i am really feeling problems with my bluetooth
even than i have already made a backup of the available drivers that we get with our notebook
you can find it in c drive in a folder named swsetup
is you really want to change the os than do this before you change it so that you should have all the drivers
