I do not think there is much of seriosness in this as this is not completely unusual. Some kids leave this habbit quite later than the normal age... Take it coolly and make sure of doing things what others have suggested and slowly he will develop

Bed wetting is unintentional loss of urine , usually during sleep at night .Infants do not have sufficiently developed nervous systems to control urination voluntarily until they are about 2 to 3years old. Controlling urination through the night may not occur until after the age of 3.A child who wets his bed recurrently after he has learned to control urination has the problem of bed wetting. There are many causes of bed wetting . it may occur because of a delay in normal development or as a result of emotional stress .About 15% of boys and10% of girls are bedwetters at the age of 5.By 9, about 5%of all children still have the problem, but will outgrow it by the time they reach purbety.Children who are bedwetters should be examined to rule out any physical abnormality in the urinarytract .Obstruction at the neck of the bladder where it joins the urethra or obstruction at the end of the urethra may cause uncontrollably dribbling of urine ,but tis is usually ooccurs during the aswell as the night.Diseases of the nerves controlling the bladder, sometimes hereditary, can cause loss of urine. It can also occur in children who are mentally retarded or mentally ill,or because of an acute or chronic illness. In the latter cases the problem disappears when the child regains his health. If all physical abnormalities for bed wetting have been explored and eliminate as possible cause, emotional problems should also be considered as a cause. An understanding altitude rather than a hostile or punitive one on the part of the parents is extremely important in helping a child who is a bed wetter. he may be anxious about school or he may feel insecure about parental acceptance.Insuch cases, an effort to bring the childs hidden feelings into the open and deal with them sympathetically usually causes the problem to disappear.

You mean that the chances are that the problem could also be due to some kind of psychological factor... We are going to see a doctor, this weekend and I guess we find him alright!!! Thanks for your response

Seperate him from others. If he sleeps alone in his bed, make him urinate first before going to sleep. Do this everytime he sleeps. Until this becomes normal and the urge to urinate will be cured by getting up and go to toilet to pee.

It's actually not that unusual for that age to still have accidents. Take him to the doctor and check to make sure there aren't any problems. It could be something as simple as an undersized bladder, in which case it just takes time for it to catch up to the rest of his body. In the mean time, make sure he does go to the bathroom before he goes to bed. I would recommend putting a plastic sheet or garbage bags under his sheets to protect the mattress or you can pick up the over nights for his age group. They do sell them. The parents can try getting him up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. That might help. Embarassing the kid or trying to shame them with it won't help. It can actually make it worse.

Ya. We are also thinking of taking him to the doctor... we cant take this as normal. Maybe there are some dysfunctions in his system, which needs to be cured.

There is a accupressure points at the top of little fingers ( I mean 2 cms uper portion of little finger) of both the hands. Just you press gently it for 3-5 minutes daily and repeat it 3-4 time in a day. You will observe your child's frequency of discharging urin has come down. After a week of time it will reduce drastically. Do it regularly. This is the best medicine so far available free of cost. Top portion of little finger has direct link with urinating part of body so it is effective.

My uncle's son was also suffering from same problem . They took him to as many doctors as they knew but all invain .Finally at an age of 12 he stopped wetting his bed . Now also he discharges urine in his bed once or twice in a year but their is no cure for this . If you want a temporary soltion don't allow him to consume extra water in night .

I knew this man who had a son around that age and he (the son) would wear the over night pull ups to bed...and he'd wet those. Finally, when it came time for his son to start kindergarden, I put my foot down and suggested to him that he start potty training his son for the slumber time. Sure, he had accidents but eventually, he stopped. It could be fixed by limiting the boy's drinking a few hours before he goes to bed and make sure he goes potty right before he hits the sheets...but, be sure to have extra jammies and sheets nearby just incase. Hope this helps.
