Hi There!
Is it normal for a child to thumbsuck at the age of 5 already? My daugther can't resist to let her thumbsuck whenever she falls to sleep. We actually let her do it for the first 3 years and before reaching four, we told her to gradually stop doing it and she was able to do it. After about 1 year, we noticed that she's doing it over again and it seems that it's harder for her to control it. What's your opinion about this, Moms and Dads out here?

You need to stop her habit of thumbsucking. i have a cousin and she loves thumbsucking until the age of 6. Later on she have some problems regarding the position of her two upper front teeth. Her teeth is disgusting, she looks like bugs bunny because her two front teeth are not in the normal position because of her thumbsucking. since those teeth are not properly aligned. It is very noticeable especially if she's smiling. Imagine your daughter have two upper front teeth want to move forward from the rest of her teeth.

Hi Neena! Thanks for the response. My daughter is turning 6 this year and she still used to do it. So far, her two front teeth has not yet forwarded (whatever you call it, but there's a gap between her teeth but not disgusting though. What i'm afraid of is when she put her thumb in her mouth with a dirty hands!

I would say they need to stop the thumbsucking by school age because of the teasing they will endure there. I am sure you don't want your child enduring that when she goes to school. I have tried to offer her a blanket or a doll to sleep with instead?
