I see it all the time, women who have worked at a job for a long time and then they hit their 40s and things start changing at their jobs. Employers start hiring younger people who will work for less. Even though these women have given so much to these companies they now become obsolute. Are employers starting to discriminate against women in their 40s?? Has this happened to you???

Yes it has. I was bullied out of my Job because of my Illness as soon as it was diagnosed 100% it started. My Boss had retired and the minute he was gone it got worse. I had been in the Job 8 years full dedication, 45-60 hour a week and that was what I got. The Company had to pay me but I got so Ill I was not strong enough to take it to court as the Company it was happening I had all my Evidence, it happens everywhere. They will find a way to get rid of you.

I am 49 this year and this is a big concern for me. Even though I have a great full time job that I feel is pretty secure, my boss is old and anything could happen. That is the main reason I started a home business, so that I won't have to worry about finding another job. With the income from that I should be able to replace the income from my job and retire within the next year or so. For me that is the best job security as the company I work in my home business has been around over 21 years, so I know they will still be there for a very long time!

I have not heard anything about this happening in my state at all as I have several female friends that are in their 40's and still working and have no problems at work. If this is happening, I think it is ashame that women are losing their jobs at this point in their life. i would think companies would rather keep these women in their company since they are more experienced with the company and how things work and have more knowledge than many younger people.

no matter of fact I was in 50s when I worked at one place that wanted to make me the lead of my line and I would be making more money biut I had to move but when I came baack the big boss man ran out and told them to hire me back right away! It is ashame that co. would do this to 40 year olds after they have spent all their time with that co. they should sue if let go fo this reason

There is far too much age discrimination in the workplace. I posted this topic a while ago and was amazed at the number of response I got all stating the same thing. I have been trying to find a job for two years only to be refused on the grounds that I am too old. Finally I managed to find a little job, but, to be honest, I really don't think I will be staying there as I feel I am being discriminated against by my work colleagues who are all much younger than me.
