How long do your cordless Optical Mouse Batteries Last?

I use a Logitech mouse, with 2 AA no-name brand batteries, and I probably get 150 hours of usage out of the pair. That used to be around 17 days, but nowadays I am never home, and it's around 6 weeks.
Also, I find almost NO difference in battery life if I keep the base nearer or further from the actual mouse itself.
What are your experiences?
Does anybody have tips on maximizing battery life?
Does anybody use rechargables?

I use my cordless mouse since i brought my pc two years ago.i think u should use rechargable batteries for the mouse as they gives better performance,i recharge my btteries once in a one and half a week,n my daily running of pc is around 5 to 6 hours.

Wow, so you get like 60 hours per recharge?
I'll likely make the switch then.
