The Good, The Bad and The Drink

thank you for that for i am a smoker. I can see no smoking in restaurants and places of businesses but bars??? it's just ridiculous. While i agree that drinking is dangerous- prohibition did not go over well here in the US...however drinking laws and fines have increased to discourage drinking and driving, but not much has been done to stop the kids from drinking.

I believe that goverments are comming to understand that both smol king and drinking are cash cows, the taxes reaped off them is incrediable. but as you have shown the costs are becoming huge. But smoking is gone and that leaves drinking, and I do not believe that they are quite so willing to give up all the tax dollars,It will have to be the people of the country that push for no drinking allowed and there are far to many people that believe that they have everything under control. I smoked for years, and if I never have a drink it wouldn't bother me, But I was reluctant to give up my smoking as it was enjoyable for me. I guess to sum this up It will have to be the indivigual people that are willing to give up their so called pleasures/

I agree with you pal , Drinking can kill other people too , I have seen people coming out of a pub and driving off without a second thought , It has helped me with the no smoking because I have asthma , but I think drink is a much worse thing really , x

I agree that alcohal is terrible and should have more regulations- however I'm still all for the smoking regulations. Smoking is disgusting. I don't want to eat my food where someone is smoking. It's gross. Why should I go out and pay money to eat at a restaurant and have my food be ruined from all the smoke in the air. It's gross. And what about all the children that take up smoking? Maybe they don't get anything so sudden as alcohal poisoning - but how about 10-20 years down the road when they get lung cancer - all because they were peer pressured into smoking? Alcohal is bad - but the governments make too much money off of it for them to ban it.

The powers that be have determined that smoking is bad, because they do not like smoking. Since they probbly like to drink then Drinking is ok. Many of the laws that are passed are done so because the law makers feel they know what is best for you. In my state we had a State Senator who contracted lymes disease and the Dr. did not test for it right away. The Senator introduced a law requiring all people to be tested for lymes disease. These people are in a position of power and some want to change things to suit them. Smoking Bans area good example. Several years ago people complained about being bothered by smoke on Airplanes, so the airlines-without any government rules-started to offer smoking and non smoking sections on the planes. Over the years more people wanted the non smoking sections to the point that all flights became smoke free. The free market decided the policy not the government. You did not have the opposition to that policy like you are having to the smoking ban in Restrauants and Taverns. people like to chooseand not be forced into something. I perfer non smoking restrauants and always request non smoking seating. I vote with my feet and pocketbook. Like you I oppose smoking bans because it is more government interferance in my life.

drink is the worse for the individuals and the families. But when a someone smokes in public, the other people in the area also smoke wheher they want to or not. At least when someone drinks it's only their body they are effecting. Smoke kills others as well. smoking is anti-social and it makes your hair and clothes stink and that's through someone else.

Acctually when compare with both you find out smoke is more deadly than drinks in terms of consuption and harm it creats in human internal organs. But you are right in a way for drinks causes alot of problems but it is only when taken in excess. In my counrty it is only churches that declared it as evil manner in the both. But in my own point of view I agreed with you, for now, drinks is causing harm than smoke when taken in excess In the order way round. if you take drinks in normal qauntity, it will not be harmful to you when compare with smoke

Smoking and drinking are normally used to get out of pressure or stress. smoking is bad than drinking. actually government should start taking both seriously as even a kid is getting attracted towards smoking and drinking.

why do you think drinking should be the number one? i am a smoker and i do think it is the number 1. it smells bad' it hurts your health' you harm people that are next to you. i di think that smoking is the number one

Drinks are bad. More people dying of it. And of course, more people are likely to cause trouble when drunk. Many times, we have heard that people act brazenly when drunk. Drunken folly, acts of drunkenness, some how these have a very bad ring to them. But seriously, I have never heard of acts of smoking becoming something very bad.

to me it's because of the money involved am sure if there was a pole taken more people drink than smoke so they attack the smokers. to me it's really sad we have people that have 2 or 3 dui's and still have there license not to mention that thousands that r killed each year by drunk drivers.

I am not a smoker or a drinker. But sometimes I drink when I feel depression. I think teenagers drink just when they feel depression. Why they feel depression? I dont know. My father is not a drinker too.He drinks only when he feels happy. It is really strange , isnt it?

In our country,there are so many young pelple try to drive cars after they drink.Especially they are not 18 years old yet.

yes of corse drinking is also bad for health. But the thing is it is even a medicine for some diseases.some doctors prefer having a peg after dinner as it helps for good digestion. smoking is very injurious to health even u take one or a ten.Smoking is banned in many public places & also in the work areas. The reasons for this are The person standing next to the person smoking gets more effected than person doing it. It needs fire to get lightened.so this may cause any disaster.
